    Finally chose a Toyota!

Did a LOT of research on LR4's and decided that due to wheel/tire size limitations, small fuel tank size (for me an auxilliary 110 litre is a neccessity!) remounting spare tire/wheels on rear bumper and multi-battery charging problems on Euro 5 engines are such that I would need to spend about...

How to add extra battery or 2 to LR4?

I'm looking at buying a new LR4 and need to add 1 or 2 extra batteries (probably Optima 55 or 66 A/H x 2 in under hood (daily temps here are ALWAYS +80 - +90 F degrees) or a single 105 - 120 regular AGM in back of car (take out 3rd row seats??). From what I've researched this means getting a...

Advice on tire size for LR4 with 19" rims

I'm seriously looking at getting a LR4 as a new purchase......will be used in the far north-west.......of Australia. The Kimberley - hot "tropics" (it rains very heavily for about two months of summer and cyclones/tornadoes - rest of time it's semi desert/desert ( bit like NV, AZ, NM) basically...

Boosting available charge voltage from Jeeps.

In really hot climates the under hood temps soar of my '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 liter straight six. The engine doesn't overheat, but because it gets so hot under the hood, the Battery Temperature Sensor does it's thing and pulls back charging voltage to about 13.2V - this, whilst maintaining...

What size wheels + tyres can you fit on a LR Discovery 4 (LR4) ???

I'm seriously thinking of getting a Discovery 4 HSE SDV6 Black Edition.....I've already got a Series 2a that doesn't get much use these days, but which I'll keep and a 2010 RR Sport 5.0 Supercharged for town use. My exploration vehicle has been a ZG (ZJ Export buildmade in Graz, Austria) which...

Which front shocks for a ZJ?????

I'd appreciate some input on this decision: My Pedders shocks ( a quality Aussie brand, big bore foam-type, list price AU$ 360 a pair....about same price as ARB ) need (?!?)replacement because the lower rubber on one shock has failed and gone missing - apart from that shocks are fine.....still...

Replacing AGM battery after 1 year and 10 months of 2 year warranty...

I guess I should count myself very lucky that after much arguing with the vendor/shop ahe downright rude distributor who denied any and all liabilility an unhelpful and rather non-commital importer. The brand is a Chinese manufacturer called "Absorbed Power", the original purchase price was AU$...

An easy way to temporarily step up idle speed for increased rate of charging.

I'm trying to think of an easy to effect way (pushing a button???) to temporarily increasing the idle speed on a 97 4.0 Jeep engine with the 136 Amp alternator........to lessen the amount of running time at idle when charging the battery or to increase available power when using a winch. I...

    Selectable ABS system????

I am seriously considering wiring in a disconnect or ON/OFF switch for the ABS braking system in my 97 ZJ......I've had good "Off-road ABS" systems , on a 1996 Range Rover 4.6 HSE and find the Jeep ABS excellent for sealed roads but downright scary/dangerous on deep gravel, sand, loose rock etc...

A Better Primary Filter/Strainer for ZJ Fuel Pump

I'm wanting input based on experience and maybe some ideas on this folks: I've got a 97 ZJ (ZG really) and I'm in the Australian outback (Northern Territory) where fuel is just plain dirty with crap! Very few fuel places have final coalescing filters on their pumps. Last year in Far North...

ATF flow to coolers whilst in "Park"????

It's been my habit to run my Jeep at idle in "Park" for say 1/2 to 1 hour at a time to recharge the batteries if I'm camped for more than say 1-2 days in one place (i.e. haven't driven anywhere for a couple of days)......I get about 40A @ 13.4 -13.8V which is great for a quick partial recharge...
