Creative ways to get height at rear axle?

^Thanks, though I already found that link and bought those bags; when I got them I took some measurements and realized that it was doubtful it would raise the rear more than an inch or so... they're not tall enough. Leveling the load, greater approach angel, etc are all my goals. It's really...

Creative ways to get height at rear axle?

Would this 2.5" thing work? It says it's "universal" and looks like it'd be easy to just slide in there...

Creative ways to get height at rear axle?

No one sells airbags or custom springs for my particular model of suv (Highlander, trust me, multiple owners confirmed it) and every car shop I've called has refused to help because of liability. Can I just jam some rubber disks or something between the jounce bumper and the strike plate until...

Any anti-hydroplaning tires also good on ice?

I've read it in multiple places: https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/tires/best-and-worst-tires-in-all-weather-conditions "Winter tires that have a tight tread pattern with lots of siping (slits) to bite into snow and squeegee on ice don't resist hydroplaning well. These include the Nokian...

Any anti-hydroplaning tires also good on ice?

I'm struggling to figure out what kind of winter tire strategy I should have for the PNW / BC winter. I do a lot of highway driving so obviously hydroplaning-resistance is a priority, but that seems to always come at the expense of good ice performance, and I do spend several weekends in the...

Custom roller shades for vehicle windows?

I thought about that; usually the home blinds have rollers that are way too large in diameter though... I need something that rolls up to no more than like an inch in diameter so it fits in the window cavity.

Custom roller shades for vehicle windows?

Clever idea, but for me the more time I spend in my vehicle the less patient I become with little tasks and having 'stuff' around... hence my preference for having a permanently mounted roller I can just pull the shade out of in one movement.

Custom roller shades for vehicle windows?

I'm tired of messing around with my foam window inserts that take up a bunch of space, does anyone sell any roller shade type blinds for all the interior windows of a vehicle, including the windshield? Or just a basic well-built blind I could mount then cut the size of the window it's covering...

    Best hinge for folding bed?

Anyone use one of these gravity-driven "drafting table" hinges for a folding bed in your rig? *I want to be able to lift the last third of my bed about 45 degrees to get to storage underneath, without having to prop it up or do anything complicated. *It's my understanding these hinges lock in...

Computer monitor as TV from iPhone?

Oh cool, didn't know that was possible. I found one that splits hdmi to hdmi + audio that's cheaper, would this work as well?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-to-HDMI-Audio-Extractor-Converter-Decoder-Adapter-Switch-Separator-HD-1080P-/112261780457?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275

Computer monitor as TV from iPhone?

^Can you bluetooth to one system (the car's audio) and HDMI to another (the monitor) at the same time?

Computer monitor as TV from iPhone?

This is probably a dumb question but I have a nice slim-profile Samsung computer monitor mounted in the back of my rig that only has 2 HMDI ports, nothing else. I want it to double as a tv (netflix, etc) from my iPhone. I know I can screen-mirror with the lightning-to-hdmi cord, but how do I...

Perforated boards ideas? (ventilated mattress base)

I need a perforated base for my Froli mattress system that needs to span a few 4' cavities, so it needs to be rigid unlike HomeDepot pegboard or something. I've had mold nightmares in the past so I'm not keen on buying wood or plywood, drilling holes, and varnishing it or whatever (but will as...

12V car coffee pot for long trip?

I used that a few times and it worked well. Honestly I'm not convinced that conventional coffee tastes that much better than powdered/crystallized, which is so much more convenient than messing around with drip coffee, french press, etc. and the cleanup. What good is Earl Grey without...

On Board Hot Water Shower System

I followed your advice and draped a couple layers of welding blanket all around a Eccotemp L10 I bought, mounted it in a Stowaway2 hitchbox. I put a little 3" marine duct fan next to it to cool it down a bit, hopefully it won't blow the ignition out. My little propane tank is right on the other...

    Air conditioning without a generator

I don't know about lithium, but you need about 500Ah (20hr) (e.g. 5 of these: https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-31m/sli31agmdpm) to run the smallest air-conditioner on the market all night and into the morning a bit. I only had 3 of them last summer and...

Window covering ideas? Insulation & blackout

I know WeatherTech sells those thin windshield covers, but they don't insulate well and don't blackout around the edges. I'm thinking of cutting out slightly oversized 2" hobby (open cell) foam and 'squishing' it into the windshield and side windows when I want to sleep in my vehicle, and...

    LED interior lights

I got mine there too, they've lasted more than a year; but they come with very tiny gauge wires that are EXTREMELY difficult to connect to a larger gauge wiring system. I tried multiple connectors, crimps, spot welding etc.; ultimately settled on just epoxy.

On Board Hot Water Shower System

I've made the decision to drape a couple layers of rubber mats around mine to protect against shrapnel. Blasting mats are made out of tires so I assume that's the best material? Also, everyone should note that Eccotemp's manual for L5 & L10 says not to install on a vehicle or any place subject...

On Board Hot Water Shower System

Eccotemps explode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyByP4Nf4HE http://www.justrightbus.com/2014/06/EccotempReview.html I guess make sure to encase it in blasting mats? Their customer service won't respond
