xj on the chopping block, bought a '01 2500 suburban. Update! I could use some help

No help on the oil leak but if you haven't got a plug in tuner yet I would recommend not. Get a custom tune from Blackbear and he will be able to fix the suspension light and fix your shift points so that you also wont need the Corvette servo. I have a few mods to do to my Suburban first but I...

    good kid sleeping bag?

we have Slumberjack (a kelty brand) bags for our kids. They are the go-n-grow models rated for 30 degrees with an expandable foot box so that once they get older they can still use it. We have used this bag on nights that got into the 30's and my son didn't complain, or wake up at all. It might...

"TrailTop" modular trailer topper building components

This looks great! The possibilities are almost endless with a few interchangable parts. I would be very interested in this concept for a multi-use modular type utility trailer in the future. Regarding pricing and affordablity, it obviously needs to a fraction of what a production model would...

    Off-road durability of Cooper A/T3 ?

I'm interested also. I have ST/Maxx on my truck but I'm thinking the AT3 might be a good compromise on the suburban since it's the family hauler.

    Advice on used canoes

Thanks for all the replys. I decided on the Mad River Explorer 16. I came to the realization that even at 16'9" we would outgrow that very shortly with our kids along so it will require a second boat or a 18'+ canoe for us all to camp out of so being the shortest canoe didn't really matter...

    Advice on used canoes

Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on which is more stable? I have read mixed reviews on initial stablity of the Explorer but both the Explorer and Discovery should have plenty of secondary. (note that I have only paddled a rented Discovery). But knowing my kids, stability is certainly a...

    Advice on used canoes

I have a couple leads on used canoes somewhat local to me (about 4 hr drive) and I wanted some opinions. One is a very lightly used Old Town Discovery 169 that comes with cheap paddles, a dolley, throw cushions, 3rd seat and a nice trolling motor mount for $650 + 4 hr drive. The other is a...

    UJOR Build Thread

Just curious, what does it mean when you DeQuiglify a van? I have located a quigley conversion for a decent price but I had been planning on doing one of your conversions the whole time so I'm curious what you recommend needs to be done to straighten one out. Thanks Luke

1998 Quigley 4x4 15 passenger van, converted to basecamp camper

Still available? Does this van have rear heat/ac? Also, in one of the photos, it looks like the rear paneling is missing? Is it just a cargo van with windows? Does the bench seat have seatbelts?

    Toddler sleeping bags

We got our 2 yr old son the "go-n-grow" sleeping bag by Slumberjack. It will extend 10" to hopefully let it last a bit longer. It is still to large for him but we just fold the extra under him and he stays really warm in it. So far I am very pleased with it and it seems to have great fit and finish.

    Info on vintage camper

I was able to get some more info from the current owner. The nameplate says McNamee Coach corp and it was made in 1971. the only info I can find on that brand is here, http://redneckexpress.blogspot.com/2009/10/kamp-king-koaches-classic-revisited.html. The model I'm looking at isn't nearly as...

    Info on vintage camper

There is a truck camper for sale near me and I can't find any information on it. It is called "Little King" and that is pretty much all the info the owner has on it. It seems to be a light weight "minimaist type camper but I'm not sure. It looks to be 7' and has a cab over section with fridge...

    Camping in bear country

gsanders Thanks for all the info! I'm going to look into some of the spots you mentioned as some of them are alredy on the list. Its difficult to really narrow down what we want to do when the area is so big and so much to see! I would really love to do some fishing and I was debating bringing...

    Camping in bear country

I never said I was going to be burying the TP, only the waste along with the insert that is not only biodegradable, but has passed ASTM standards to be certified compostable. Sorry, maybe my ethos is off but if it's ok in my compost, it will be ok in the middle of the wilderness...properly cat...

    Sleeping bag quality

Thanks for the review. One of the features I didn't care for was the zipper not going around the foot box on the bottom, I thought it lost a lot of function not being able to be opened up all the way or used as a "blanket". What are your thouhgts on that? Also really curious how the center zip...
