    Newly acquired 1980 230g won't run/idle

Forgot to mention, as a test, I removed one spark plug wire and started the engine like that and it "runs" exactly the same. I even tried disconnecting two spark plug wire and started it with only 2 cylinders connected and it still ran almost the same (a bit worse). Does this mean it's not...

    Newly acquired 1980 230g won't run/idle

Thanks for the reply. It has points in the distributor which I just learned how it works after you just mentioned it now. Looks like I can clean and adjust them as a quick potential fix. I looked into an electronic conversion as well and it's not as expensive as I imagined it would be so I will...

    Newly acquired 1980 230g won't run/idle

Recently acquired a 1980 230g that had been sitting in a yard for 9 months. Couldn't get it to fire up when I looked at it but because the price was right, I bought it anyway as I want to eventually swap the engine. The guy said he had it running before storing it but who knows. I had it towed...

    G320 from Japan

Which company did you use to handle the whole process for you? Didn't realize they could ship to the east coast as well. I assume that means the ship went the other way around the globe?! What unexpected costs did you have, if any? Do you think it would be worth it to find a G500 to import...

    G320 from Japan

Can you elaborate on how a G320 will ride differently than a G500? More or less harsh? I'm in Vancouver. From my research, that's about right for the cost of getting it over from Japan to Vancouver. That's a general cost for vehicles from Japan from what I understand, unless for some reason a G...

    G320 from Japan

I might take you up on that! Also interested in how your import process went. I'll shoot you a PM.

    G320 from Japan

Not going to find a similar year here unfortunately. The earliest I can test drive seems to be a 2002 G500 as I think that's around the time they were introduced to Canada? Would something like a 2002 G500 compare in terms of ride quality/comfort to say a 1995 G320? Or are they wildly different...

    G320 from Japan

Hi, I'm considering a G Wagon but not being able to afford the local G500s here in Canada, I'm considering importing one from Japan (relatively easy for Canadians, especially on the west coast). There are quite a few mid 90s G320s (and some G500s) SWB and LWB in Japan with under 120,000 miles...

Which truck to import from Japan?

Thoughts on something like this? This sold for $3k USD. I have realized that these japanese trucks are not as heavy duty as the Fuso FG found in north america but would it still be good enough to put a camper on the back of it? Seems like the bed might be a bit short with the crew cab.

Which truck to import from Japan?

You are right but I'm looking at mid 90s trucks (mostly due to the 15 year old import limitation but also price) so they've been on the road for a while. Also, I'm not sure if those strict vehicle standards apply to commercial vehicles.

Which truck to import from Japan?

Hmm hadn't considered the rust issue. I would be using an exporting company who will inspect vehicles for me so I'll have them watch out for that. RHD is no problem for Canada. Lots of RHD vehicles from Japan here. All other things being equal, is there any of the trucks that would be better...

Which truck to import from Japan?

I’m looking to build a camper/exploration vehicle based on one of these trucks and were looking for opinions on which one to get. Being in BC, Canada, I have the ability to import anything older than 15 years from Japan. They seem to have a lot of different options though. Obviously the fuso is...
