2007 Chevy Express AWD Camper Van

$16,500 or best offer. Our trip is coming to an end so Vanessa is for sale, I’d love to keep her but to send her back to New Zealand but that would require me to convert her to right hand drive, which is almost impossible with AWDs. I’ll be sad to see her go. She was built with high quality...

    Vanessa, the Jersey Girl

I promised to post a review of some of my build/gear decisions ages ago, wrote half of it and finally finished it. Here it is: 1. Dometic CFX-DZUS. The first fridge I received from Amazon had a defective screen but cooled fine, after some messing around with Amazon it was replaced. The new...

    No standing headroom: Deal breaker??

If it's van vs no van, a low roof can work. My girlfriend and I have been in our standard height Express full time since April. We cook outside mostly, but have been in backwoods Canada most of the time (an awning helps with the rainy days). Why stink up your interior... Plus being outdoors is...

The Fun Hog Build Thread: 2007 Chevy Express AWD

I debated doing "soft walls" then Hull liner. I'm glad I decided against it and did 5mm ply covered in dark grey trunk liner carpet. I'm constantly leaning on the walls when I sleep, plus it's much more durable (constantly throwing mountain bikes and climbing gear around the van). If you want...

    Chevrolet Express Front Bumper

A Silverado front is close but not exactly the same shape as a van. I'd expect you could make it work/modify brackets and stuff, but it probably won't be a bolt on affair

Pre '92 Ford 4x4 conversion kit

http://www.glinx.com/~sbest/4vanhow.htm Have a read through that, though the info on steering seems a bit dated, nowadays it's easier to do crossover steering as you can buy weld in threaded inserts for tie rods for cheap... No need to go to a machinist... Just call the two shops I listed...

Pre '92 Ford 4x4 conversion kit

If you just want someone to sell you a weld on leaf spring hanger, some shackles and some steering bits a rockcrawling shop like Sky's should be able to sell you most of what you need for not a fortune. A coil spring kit might be a bit more difficult. This kit might not be far off from what...

Which Van to Buy for Adirondaks?

That's a good deal for the East coast if it's in good shape and minimal rust . I paid 9800 for mine, the high top and bits of camping gear make it worth it.

Boxed steps and rock sliders (WTD)

Looks sweet, not in the market, but one thing you could offer is adding fittings to make them an air or water tank. That or integrating battery boxes to the mounting legs. Finding creative places to hide stuff on these vans is always a good trick

Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

Not much about tslot extrusion is "economical" minus the easy setup. You'd still need to make mounting brackets which would take some time. Something like Goonies ladder I'd spend an entire day on, maybe a bit more including paint and fit up. The ladder is the easy part, brackets and tabs...

Yeah I was actually surprised how common they are in RVs but weren't mentioned often around expedition portal for vans.

    Vanessa, the Jersey Girl

Got to my sister's house in Wisconsin and took the opportunity to wash and wax the van. *Really trying to protect the paint and get the dirt off the roof. * Also took everything out and vacuumed it.* If you live in an area with trees, especially pine trees, it's good to take the black plastic...

Roof Rack Towers on Express van

Looks fine. Haven't used the ARB stuff but seems similar to how thule towers work: a foot on the inside of the gutter and a hook over the outside that you tighten up. My tracrack towers bridge over the sealer with a little metal wedge but I wouldn't worry much since it looks like they gave...

    Biting the bullet, need advice!

Yeah just have a good look everywhere, take a flash light and crawl around under it. I'm from Maryland and got my van in NJ and it was pretty rust free so they do exist even if the PPI says this one isn't the one.
