A good reason for not reposting the contents of the link is that eventually the van is sold and then you just have a bunch of irrelevant information sitting in this thread taking up bandwidth etc and making it harder to scroll through.

My thought is more to the point of lots of RVs and vans having a large pressurized tank of Propane tucked up under them. That to me is more unsettling than considering a gas burning heater. The Espars and Webastos are very well made, well engineered devices with a ton of safety features built...

If you saw how very tiny the inner diameter of the fuel line is you might not be so nervous. I run the B4 and it works great, lot's of heat. I'd be way more nervous with propane on board and a pressurized tank.

So in essence you went with Diesel vs Propane as your van energy source. A very good choice. I stuck with the gas fired espar B4. I am wary, but it has worked great thus far.

Well known heaters for use in vans are the Espar Airtronic or the Webasto Air top. They come in different sizes (BTU) and obviously have different outputs, fuel consumptions, and electrical consumptions. Espar has their Diesel D2 and D4 and they also make the gas versions of B1LC and B4 etc...

Does Propane even work at -40?? How about a diesel fired heater?? Gas fired should work right?? But that is serious cold.

Have that same reader and it will do the job. What info you can get back depends on the vehicle. I was able to see my fueling and defueling on my 6.8l which was seemingly not running well at the time and it helped. Really all I needed was a KAM reset and the van ran great again.

I got about 1-1.5 mpg better when I put the 5 star on my 2013 v10. Empty van before 4x4 ~13mpg highway. After 4x4 conversion and build it was about 10mpg highway. Added 5 Star Performance 87 and got back to 11-11.5 mpg. But I agree that the best thing is the performance. Some of the best...
