Pump GPM for a dishes sprayer/camp shower?

I've decided that my next camping project is to bring a little water pressure into my life. My initial thought is to use one of the many available 12v diaphragm pumps to pull water from a Scepter can into a sprayer head. Main use would be washing dishes and gear, but it would also be nice to...

Realistic Capacity Margin for DOY LiFePo4 Setup?

Oh, price I was quoting was for a bank of 4 of those batteries to get to 12v.

Realistic Capacity Margin for DOY LiFePo4 Setup?

Appreciate all the advice. Thanks to jonyjoe101 for the tip about checking the charge voltages. I myself was surprised that the group 34 battery wasn't cutting it -- figured it would be enough. I'm also seeing the wisdom of going for the higher AH rating despite the cost. That much overkill...

Realistic Capacity Margin for DOY LiFePo4 Setup?

I've decided to take a crack at building a DIY LiFePo4 battery setup for my rig. My current setup is a 300W solar panel and a Group 34 lead acid battery. I'm running an ARB fridge and occasionally a diesel heater. No real plans to add anything else aside from maybe a 12v oven for giggles at...

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. Spent some time watching my solar setup and measuring things with a multimeter and I'm pretty convinced that I've got plenty enough solar power. Even on a cloudy day, my panel is able to come up with enough amperage to both charge the battery and run...

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

I looked and there isn't one. People seem to use the AGM preset or input their own parameters (which are really close to the stock AGM ones).

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

Re-measured the panel and it's about 5' x 3'. It's a Sunpower residential panel rated at 305W. I really don't think solar is my bottleneck here. I've monitored the MPPT and the historical logs and there has never been a day when the battery did not get fully charged from the solar panel...

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

Panel is 300W residential solar panel about 3.5ft x 2ft in size. Looking back at the MPPT logs, the battery is getting fully charged every day, and usually pretty quickly.

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

Spent some time looking through the MPPT logs... I had inadvertently set the fridge to a "medium" battery voltage cutoff, 11.4V. I'm guessing that this is too low, so I set it to the "high" setting of 11.8V. Is this still too low of a cutoff voltage for a lead-acid starter battery? Looking back...

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

Looking back through the MPPT logs, the fridge pulls a little more than 5A when the compressor switches on.

It's set to a bit above freezing. When I'm using it, it sits in a truck bed with pretty decent ventilation.

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

I think I'm at a decision point for my fridge power setup. I've got a 300w solar panel on my RTT attached to a Victron MPPT. Only thing I use it for is an ARB Elements fridge ( the bigger one ). I'm having issues with the fridge shutting off and the problem (I think) is the battery. My first...

OBA - How much does an air tank help?

I have considered CO2 before (mainly cause I have a tank from a homebrew phase from a while back), but not really excited to have yet another consumable that I've got to keep track of on the truck. Honestly I'm not too particularly bothered by the slow fill times of the Viair, at least for the...

OBA - How much does an air tank help?

Awesome advice, thanks everyone. I do like the idea of being able to get a little air spray action to clean stuff out, and I've been pondering building a low-pressure circuit to drive an outdoor shower/faucet from a Scepter can -- tank would be helpful with that. But good to know it's not...

OBA - How much does an air tank help?

Sorry if this is a basic question, but after a bunch of searching I'm having a hard time getting a straightforward answer: I've got a first-gen Tacoma on 33"s. Right now I use a Viair 300P to re-inflate my tires. I do not use air tools. I notice that a lot of folks add a 10 or 20 gallon air...

    First-gen Tacoma 5th gear swap?

Great, sounds like a bad idea and now I won't have to spend hours taking the backend of the transmission apart. Took a gander at some torque band charts for the 5VZFE which reinforced this. I think it was one of those things that seemed like a great idea at first, but I'm realizing that lugging...

    First-gen Tacoma 5th gear swap?

Hi all, thought I'd ask for a bit of advice before I tear into my transmission... My rig is a 2004 Tacoma, manual, V6, riding on 33s and 4.88 gears. At freeway-type speeds, my revs are fairly high -- I'm doing 3000RPM at 72MPH. My gas mileage is generally in the mid-teens. I've seen on other...

    FS: 230W Sunpower Solar Panel

Yep, bought from a local guy who sells excessed panels. Don’t know what the actual age of the panel is though.

    FS: 230W Sunpower Solar Panel

Selling a 230-watt Sunpower monocrystalline panel (SPR-230-WHT-U). Dimensions are 61.4"x 31.4"x1.8" and the panel weighs 33lbs. Panel tests ok. Bought it to mount on a RTT but decided to go with a little bigger panel since I had the space. This one is decently compact. Metal frame. Asking...

Downside to using residential solar panels (on top of a RTT)

Picked it up from some folks in SoCal selling a bunch of panels that were removed from a building. Price was right. (https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/ele/d/santa-fe-springs-preowned-sunpower-305w/7005403529.html) The only thing that sucks is that instead of being a normal metal frame...
