The Mitsubishi Van/Wagon from 1987-1990 was run through federalization, so it'd have the FMVSS decal, which means it'd pass Maine's annual inspection. It seems that this decal is the golden ticket in Maine.
Apparently owners of ex-military Humvees are also getting letters about deregistration...
I'm very glad this is coming to light. (I'm the guy who wrote the original article on this on my website, Crankshaft Culture. I'm also the admin on the MDOC Mitsubishi Delica Owners Club USA on Facebook.)

Bumping this up. Did this ever get resolved?
I have a '92 JDM Pajero wit ha V5MT1 and a 4D56 with a cracked block. I was wondering if a D4BF would simply drop in.

FYI, I installed Rancho XL9000s on my Pajero and so far, I really like them. Very comfortable ride on pavement. I haven't had them on the trail, but I have had them in the sand and they work very well. I've been running them on the softer side thus far.
Got a chance to actually venture off the pavement for the day recently. The Pajero did great. In addition, my wife is doing the Rebelle Rally, and she's been getting some seat time at the dunes.
I have been noticing some clicking from the rear suspension at full articulation. Sounds like a...
