picked up 3 more white ball transfer case shift levers today for you guys

Is this an issue that would affect a '97 Montero LS?

    Looking for a heater core.

So, an ongoing annoyance with my 97 Montero is that it has tiny little pinhole leak in the heater core. Just enough that I can smell a bit of antifreeze when I have the heater running, but not enough to seriously impact my coolant usage. So I've been searching for a heater core since last...

    TPS Wierdness.

Combination of lack of time and crappy weather. I can't afford to have it down for too long while I figure out how it comes apart and goes back together, and I didn't particularly want to do it outside in the cold and the rain. I'm not much of a mechanic to start with, and this is actually the...

    TPS Wierdness.

This is true. Got the plugs and wires in, now that's one less thing to worry about. As for the TPS, a friend of mine is pretty sure he can calibrate it, just have to find some time to get over there during the day. The really sad thing is, the intake and all that is going to have to come...

    TPS Wierdness.

That's what I was thinking, I'm on a mission to replace most everything on this truck, though I'm kind of random in my approach. Doing the injectors is a good idea, too, I hadn't thought of that.

    TPS Wierdness.

299,000 miles, no idea when they were last done, and an intermittent miss on cylinder 2, seems like a decent enough reason to change the plugs and wires to me.

    TPS Wierdness.

Tried adjusting it first, nothing seemed to make any difference at all. You're probably right though, its always something like that. On a semi-related note, whoever engineered the spark plug locations on this engine should be drug out into the street and shot.

    TPS Wierdness.

Put the old tps back on, seems to have solved the problem. Weird, new one must have been defective.

    TPS Wierdness.

So I put a new throttle position sensor and ignition coil in yesterday, and now the truck doesn't run right. In park or neutral, it'll rev to about 2500, then fall on its face, in drive, it gets to about 2000 rpm before it falls over. It idles just fine. My more mechanically inclined friend...

    Torsion bars

I would, but I have a couple other bills in the way that need taken care of, first. You know how it is, gotta do the things I need done before I can do the things I just want done.

    Torsion bars

Didn't know there was a FB page, interesting. If they're still available when I'm ready to buy them I'll definitely consider them.

    Torsion bars

Well, like I said, its mainly just the number of miles on them, I haven't been having problems, and I want to make sure it stays that way. As it happens, the OMEs are within my price range, so I figured I may as well go with them, but thought it'd be a good idea to ask about them here, since...

    Torsion bars

I'm thinking of replacing the torsion bars in my 97 Montero LS sometime in the nearish future. I haven't noticed any problems with them, so its not an urgent issue, but the truck has almost 300,000 miles on it, so I figure they're about due. I was looking at a set from Old Man Emu Any advice...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Took it on an adventure, ended up getting stuck in a hole that was deeper and soupier than I'd expected. Its a monument to bad decisions.

    Help with my sunroof, please

In my 97, the tool to open or close the sunroof was in the little toolbox built into the rear door, and the socket for it was under the plastic cover near the switch labeled "Power Sunroof." If the tool is missing, its basically just a quarter-inch (eyeballing it) allen wrench.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I fixed my sunroof, though putting it like that makes it sound like I did a lot more work than I actually did. I took an old toothbrush, and cleaned all the grit and gunk out of the threaded dealies that move the glass, then lubed them up with white lithium grease. The sunroof moves smooth as...

    Hi, from Pennsylvania

Oh, I have been prioritizing maintenance, a buddy and I just put all new shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, and rear universals in it a couple of weeks ago, and we put all new brake calipers on it over the winter. I'm just trying to look out for deals on other things, like brush guards such, I...

    Bull Bar for my Montero?

I'm having the same problem with my 97, nobody seems to make bull bars/brush guards for them. Its the one thing I don't like about my Monty, if it was a 4Runner, people would practically be throwing aftermarket parts at it.

    Hi, from Pennsylvania

Yeah, I've noticed there're a lot of people from out west on here.

    Hi, from Pennsylvania

Hello, I've been lurking a bit here and finally got around to joining up. I guess I'll jump right in with a question. I drive a 97 Montero LS, and I've been looking for a brush guard for it, but can't find any that fit. Will I have to use one for something like a 4Runner or Pathfinder? I'm...
