Reciever Mounted winch or hand winch

I run a M8000 with stock cable on a custom hitch mount plate. The unit is heavy but you are going to be working a lot harder to get yourself unstuck without it. My system is completely portable. I bought cables like this (didn't spend this much) they have eyes on both ends to connect to the...

    Banned land rover 130

Thought there might be some interest in this article. Unfortunately it lacks good detail of why they are banned. There are some other interesting cars and potential expedition vehicles as well. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/04/cars-uncle-sam-says-you-cant-have/?pid=801&viewall=true

    4510 Public Defender for concealed

We went shooting last weekend and 'The Judge' was the second handgun I ever fired. The first was a 9mm and after that I tried a 40 cal S&W, 40 cal Glock and a 45. The Judge I shot had a slightly longer barrel and I shot both the 45 long colts and 410 shot and was surprised how comfortable it...

    Anybody have a WJ?

Like any vehicle they have pro's and con's but I would say go for the WJ over the ZJ. I have a 2003 WJ with the 4.0l Our most notable trip was from Oregon to the 4 corners area and back including driving the entire White Rim trail and many other unimproved roads. We did that trip 'stock' and had...

    Oregon 550 vs 60csx

vdeal that is an interesting link. I have a nuvi 660 that should have the SiRFstarIII and the 60CSx and it is night and day difference in startup and locate times. The 60 CSx gets a signal and locates much faster than the nuvi. The 60 CSx is new straight from the factory not a retailer so maybe...

    School me on truck boxes...

I run a box in my short bed MJ. Things I like: sits down in the bed not on the rails maximizing usable space (10 cubic feet), the chamfer on the bottom is key to it fitting between the wheel well and cab, does not block my view out the back at all, has space on either side to slip a bottle of...

Garmin GPS Map 60 or newer Oregon?

I did this comparison myself when looking for a new SAR GPS. Everything I read indicated that the 60 series is more accurate and faster than the Oregon. If you are off trail I would go with the 60 if you are running forest roads and ocasional hikes on marked trails I would go with a Oregon.

2 batteries on the rig, need one more, isolated

Forget all the gadgets. All you need to do is find an outlet/wire that only gets power when the vehicle is on. Connect the battery to it. When the ignition is on it charges the battery. When the ignition is off the ignition isolates the battery from the primary batteries allowing you to run your...

    Eco-Roamer - F650 based Expedition Vehicle

The roll up door is brilliant. Does it allow you to close off the area when the poptop is down, preventing items stored up there from falling? Access to the roof also has to be a great advantage when you need to clean the solar panels.

    Flip-pac camper build

I think this build is great. The concept and execution are amazing. The only thing that could make it better is if you could use the FlipPac without it being attached to the truck.
