Portugal to Labrador, CA by bicycle

As the Expedition Portal has a bicycle expedition section I figured folks here might be interested in this. My good friend Dravis Bixel is riding his bicycle from the westernmost point in Portugal to (hopefully) the easternmost point in Labrador, Canada. If he can figure out a way to get across...

Cucv m1028 for sale with camper! Bonney lake wa.

Don't know how familiar you are with that engine so please don't take this as patronizing if you are well-acquainted with it. I'm just trying to be helpful here. The GM 6.2/6.5 diesel is difficult to start compared to modern cars simply due to it's design. It is a large engine running a 21.5:1...

VW Westfalia Syncro - Grey Goose for sale on Ebay

Given that I now own one of these myself, I can tell you that 56K is entirely reasonable. If I had that kind of money I would have bought this (which was for sale when I was looking) rather than my ride. That is a very good example (low miles, well restored) with almost all the extra goodies...

1984 GMC Suburban 6.2l Banks Turbo Diesel Build

that suburban has everything done to it that I ever did well to mine, plus everything else I've ever even dreamed of (like Alcan springs, best in the biz). Killer rig, GLWS.

Craigslist find: '95 Diesel Suburban 5 speed (San Diego)

That has a lot of sweet upgrades. Hell that Fluidamper Harmonic Balancer alone is worth $400. Definitely a tow rig at that tire size / gear ratio. To return to "stock" would require about 33" tires, which should fit. It would then get 19-20 highway, methinks. However I'm not too familiar...

'91 Suburban Diesel - Austin, TX

That price is a steal. The veggie oil kit alone costs $2k. The 1991's came with the older 6.2L IDI NA diesel. I know because I have that exact truck in the same color. Badge says GMC though. You can add a Banks Turbo (I did) but it's neither cheap nor a breeze. However, if you are in a...

    1986 Syncro Westy For Sale

Fair enough, but I do prefer your choice of engine. Do the taller 4 & 5 you installed help with fuel mileage? Also, don't know if you were able to directly compare because you put so much work in at the same time, but how much difference did the OME shocks make for the ride quality? I notice...

    1986 Syncro Westy For Sale

Wow, I had not actually realized that, but dug deep into the website and found you are very right. I had always thought the "2.5" in a GoWesty replacement motor meant a 2.5L Subie engine, but I guess not. Is the "2.5" a bored-out waterboxer or did they come in that displacement at some point...

    1986 Syncro Westy For Sale

GoWesty is very into Subaru engines. I think they swap in the 2.5 on any car they build themselves.

New to 4x4 travel, want recommendations, WTB vehicle

Just for something different I'll say lifted Subaru GL-10 wagon or Brat (80s Subarus). Abuseable, cheap to maintain, light for towing, smaller form factor, easy as cake to drive in the city, hardtop, coil springs for washboard all around and better ground clearance than almost anything that is...

    CL Find: 1991 Diesel Suburban

What Short Bus said :P @ 250 lb/ft way down low 0-40 happens at a reasonable pace. 40-65 is the ugly part that will remind you more of a VW bus than a Dodge w/ a Cummins. That being said, with my turbo I now do quite well getting on the freeway. If I romp it up to 10psi I'll have 230 HP /...

    CL Find: 1991 Diesel Suburban

Shortest answer: 18 Short answer: I've gotten anywhere from 15.5 to 21.5 with my current setup. I bet he gets somewhere in the high teens with those huge tires. Long answer: The stock motor came with fuel miser heads meant for non-turbo applications as a response to the Oil Embargo years...

    CL Find: 1991 Diesel Suburban

6.2 is a stock motor for 1991. 1/2 ton axle for that year was actually quite strong unless you are towing >5000# for considerable distances. If anyone is considering buying that and has questions, ask me, my rig is an indentical vehicle in red. I know more about it than I want to, or should :)

    1989 VW Syncro/full camper

Droool! FYI, due to Flash construction of website must navigate through to find vehicle. Anyone out there know if $27,000 is reasonable for a later model Westy Syncro with 100K on the unreliable, underpowered stock engine? These vehicles are definitely on the long term short list for me and...

DIESEL Range Rover LWB For Sale

Oh i forgot that in WA it is county, not state that does emissions. I am in King (definitely have emissions here). Diesels are generally exempt, but a 93 gasser isn't. Thus any titling issues would be forced into the light in my county. Seems like if you wanted to switch fuel types on the...

DIESEL Range Rover LWB For Sale

Doka I also live in Washington and am considering diesel converted SUVs for when my 6.2 diesel Suburban kicks the bucket (270,000 & counting). I'm having a rough time finding info from the DMV/DOL. Do you anticipate any issues titling this thing in WA? Did this engine/chassis combo ever exist...
