anyone regret getting a regular cab?

This is a picture of the space behind the seats. There’s quite a bit of room.

anyone regret getting a regular cab?

A late model F150/F250 I was looking at had plenty of room behind the seats for storage. Seats even reclined enough for a nap. I’d be 100% content with a regular cab.

4x4 Full Size Passenger Van Options

Good thing about the Transit is the high roof where you can stand up inside. A friend of mine has an AWD version with high roof and loves it (as do his family members).

One rig to rule them all

I’ve turned more into a soft roader myself. Years of slow rock crawling, it doesn’t interest me anymore. Backcountry desert travel is my current interest. I’d think either of your vehicles (F150 and Expedition) would fit that bill. Personally, I’d just keep the stable as-is. I’ve done the “one...

One rig to rule them all

I think it would help if you would identify what vehicles are in your possession right now. Hard to recommend based on “truck” “beater” “family hauler” etc. Also, what type of offroad trails you like to do. For how long? More details would help.

One rig to rule them all

I also don’t see what the issue is. Why do you need to consolidate?

    Bronco - Jeep - 4Runner ???

Personally, I’d opt for a full size SUV. For dogs crated with hunting/fishing gear, that may get tight with a midsize. Suburban or Sequoia is the way I’d go. Or even a 200-series Land Cruiser.

Older Rig with upgrades vs Newer Truck near stock?

It’d depends, in my opinion. ie, I am all for comfort and good amount of amenities to keep the family happy. But I had several new trucks. They were nice and all. The Ecoboost had power for days. Smooth as butter on the freeway. But I didn’t gel with them for some reason. Now I drive a 2005...

That depends on what you plan on doing with it. What type of terrain? How hard are the trails?

Wow. 1,300lbs over weight. That would make me nervous. He definitely needs that F350.

    eye opener about gvwr

As much as I love full-size trucks for travel, I’d be very tempted with a 70-series with its superb payload. Alas, we get nothing close to that here. I had hopes the Ranger SD would make it this way, but no dice.

    Source for H2 rear springs

That’s great to hear! I was worried since it’s sitting fairly level with the 2” keys up front. I’d hope not to resort to lowering the keys.

I think the air ride suspension was an option. I believe some came with coils from the factory.

Yup, I think these were from a 2024 model. Guy only wanted $40 for the set, so it was a deal!

Ha ha, well, to be honest, while there are advantages to an RTT, I’m not sold on them. Mainly, I am old and need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. 😂 But the family is enamored with it and if it motivates them to come camp with me, it’s a win.

    Source for H2 rear springs

For the springs, I found some off-brand on Amazon. Hopefully they will not have sagging issues. Time will tell. I stuck with the stock swaybar links. The sway bar looked fairly level after the spring install so I’m hoping they will be ok. Yeah, I’m loving the “33” inch BFG’s and Bil 5100’s...
