    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

Just saw some concerning news about the 2018-2020 F150’s with the Gen3 5.0L. Figured this would be a good place to stick a link to the Video. Definitely something to be aware of when shopping for F150’s.

    2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

Prime example of why I am back here on Expo. bmf- If you make your way to the Seattle area, you can drive my truck with the Icon bits on it. I am sure they could use a rebuild at some point, but the truck still has a great ride. Brad

    2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

I did a week in Moab with them on my old Tacoma with no issues. For me, being able to dial in the castor after a lift was the selling point. I hate how twitchy the steering feels after a lift with stock uca’s. Most fixed aftermarket uca’s account for that though. I don’t think you could go...

    2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

I’ve had SPC UCA’s on 3 different rigs now, including my wife’s ‘14 F150. Very easy to get a decent alignment right in your garage. Our Xterra had 60k miles on a set of tires after I installed those uca’s. Never had it professionally aligned, and it drove great. That being said, their...

It’s been about 2.5 years since I have been on the forums/social media (long story), but I have been missing the ExPo community. Here’s my new project: 2012 Race Red Ford SVT Raptor SuperCab. I’ve been working through some much needed maintenance, so I can get a good baseline before making...

Rear Seat Delete seatbelt warning system defeat....

ForScan cannot write to the PCM to alter engine or transmission values. You will need a custom tuner to do that, ie 5-Star, JDM, etc… **edit to add** You can use ForScan to change the tire size configuration in the BCM. It’s not as simple as clicking a button, so having someone with...

The full sized mid-size, my 2014 F150 "Fiddy"

Check the nut at the top of the front shock where it goes through the top hat. Mine made the same noise and it turned out these were not tightened down all the way. Just enough to let the spring rattle when going over sharp bumps.

2021 F150 Spy shots. Is Ford going back to '09-'14?

Agreed. And turn signals are supposed to be amber. Tired of the ricer clear lenses.

Another option to consider with the Leitner Rack is just adding an extension over the roof when you need it. The aluminum extrusions they use for load bars would make it a cinch to bolt on a cantilever that would span a few feet forward. Buy some 80/20 extrusion and fittings and you’re set.

2021 F150 Spy shots. Is Ford going back to '09-'14?

The dimensions on the taillights and bed contours are not the same as the 09-14 trucks. Looks final production to me.

Yakima Baseline mounts with HD crossbars in combination with their Overhaul HD rack system seems like it would check all your boxes. Been looking at that combo as an option as it’s easy to take on and off depending on one’s needs.

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

You could do that, but In my experience they are not fully water tight, so you might get wet in rain.

Look at the Yakima Overhaul HD rack as well. Seems like a versatile option. I have been back and forth on racks for my ‘14 F150. Things to look for when shopping for trucks would be the bigger 9.75” rear axle vs. the 8.8. Not sure if all V8’s came with them or not. Also, the 36 gallon fuel...

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Cargo covers are easy to remove. Three separate panels. They are heavy, but manageable. I would be wary of exhaust fumes with a topper and midgate down.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Yep, but without the retractable top. You could replace the glass in the midgate with a metal mesh screen for dogs or cargo barriers, or you could stick the glass in if you had a bunch of dirty or dusty gear that you wanted to separate from the cabin.

Yeah, won’t work if your using the third row. I always thought it would be cool to try that swap tho.

Swap the midgate and Avi bedliner into the Sub, creating a cargo area that can be sealed off from the passenger cabin.

    Hard Bed Covers

Thanks for the reply. I have been waffling back and forth between a hard cover vs. Decked drawers. I pick up a couple bales of hay every month, and I am concerned that every crevice of the Decked platform will quickly fill with hay and get real nasty here in the PNW. A retractable cover would...
