I like the first one best, but goota tell you I think it would look best on an old rest mod kinda truck, ( like an early 70s ford with a 7.3 powerstroke ) but anyways I love the idea, as for the people who say don't do it, it takes a real man to cut up a classic, anyone can restore something !

I had a zr2 blazer a few years ago, ( gave it to my godson) was drop dead reliable, and easy to fix. Im more of a ford guy, but it was a good truck.

I would drill a hole where the end of the rod passes through the bracket and just use a hair pin, quick and simple and if you need to exit quickly it only takes a quick pull and its outta your way.

The one thing I have to offer, if you are going to be living in it, get the 8 ft bed and camper. I live in a 28ft 5th wheel with 2 slides, and that feels very tight sometimes. so go as big as you can with out going over the top. just my .02

When I redid the floor in my Scout, I did a roll on bed liner, then put down some of the bubble inslation from home depot, then put carpet over that. seems to be good at keeping the heat/cold out, annd sound level insiode is much better. I guess we will se in a few years if the bedlinr will keep...

Are there 2 pos. battery cables piggy backed? if so I bet the cable going to the under hood fuse panel has a bad conection or is corroded inside the jacket where you cant see it. I would try replacing it, for about $40 it mite be all it need, seen this more then once.

I used to do allmy travling in a 72 scout, went as far as putting ac in it, and upgading the factory 258, to a 89 4.0 efi motor. Got real tiered of having to unpack the old girl so I could sleep at night. Now its a 97 f250 sc psd with a palomino slide in, so much more comfy and I dont go rock...
