    It's doing great with the new gears and tires, I am running the stock transmission. 3000rpm is about 68mph which seems to be right in the sweet spot.

    I finally got my axle ratio swapped out to the 4.90's to correctly gear for the 235/85-16 Cooper STT Pro tires that I just ordered.

    They are 59" WMS to WMS Only the Montero's with the SR or Winter package will have the locker (you'll see the locker switch in front of the shifter next to the cigarette lighter. You will also need to grab the little air pump from under the rear seat. 95-96 has 4.636 axle ratio 97-99 has 4.272...

    I haven’t installed the rear gears yet, I’m waiting till I switch tires. It’s a 8” in the front. Yeah, that axle is one of the most popular axles out there, you can get about any locker that’s made. You can also adapt the Toyota e-locker. It will never end! LOL

    Thanks! The 4:30’s are replaced with 4:88’s. Yeah, OME’s for sure at least in the front. I haven’t looked around to see if their available for the rear yet. 235/85-16 MT’s

    I added a couple more leaves to the front packs to take care of the negative arch and add 3" blocks to the rear to level it out. I'll eventually replace the front and rear leaf springs with Old Man Emu.

    My Mazda to Toyota solid axle swap is basically finished. I'll have to get some new springs as these used ones are pretty tired. I'll be going to a little larger tire before this winter. Huge thanks to my friend John Rowling at Rowlin's Garage and Fabrication in LaGrange for all of the help...
