    WTB: 2007-2009 4Runner V8 Limited

You make a good point. I had forgotten about the 470 and was thinking about the newer 460 having too much hanging plastic bodywork. Thanks for the tip. I also have always loved the 4Runner roll down window for the dogs!

    WTB: 2007-2009 4Runner V8 Limited

Hi Expo, I am looking for a pristine 2007-2009 4runner with the 4.7 V8 in Limited trim. I am looking for an example with no more than 130k miles and hopefully stock. I am willing to pay top dollar for a pristine example (which is rare these days). Let me know if you are looking to sell! Thanks.

Plumas National Forest - Gold Lake - July Fourth

Please do! It's stunning on a clear day. I will have to look up Butt Lake. I hope I can say that same comment in 26 years :) "I've been camping up in the Plumas area for 27 years, go there every year."

    Gen 2/2.5 Mirror help

So far so good. Just did about 170 miles of trails near Pyramid Lake this past weekend with a bunch of folks. I predict I will have to do a 2.5 inch lift fairly soon seeing that for the type of trails I like, it seems to be my only heartburn with the setup. Let's just say I like it more than I...

Jeep uConnect Vulnerable to Remote Attack

Yeah, my JKU doesn't even have the Navi unit. You should be good. The researchers will release more info at BlackHat in August detailing some more vulnerabilities: "And thanks to one vulnerable element, which Miller and Valasek won't identify until their Black Hat talk, Uconnect's cellular...

Jeep uConnect Vulnerable to Remote Attack

I stand corrected, Cherokee. It is all models with the uConnect with hotspot feature across all Chrysler, including Fiat. You can check your VIN here for updates: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/

Jeep uConnect Vulnerable to Remote Attack

Today, Wired came out with an article detailing a security vulnerability in the UConnect Access feature (hotspot) that allowed the security researchers from DARPA to take control of a 2014 Grand Cherokee remotely. The CAN bus systems in cars have been designed with no security in mind, and...

Recommend a charcoal BBQ for travel

+1 I had the Smokey Joe, but returned it and picked up this model. It's called the "to-go". Packs up nicely and grills great for two people. For all my charcoal grilling sessions, I use a chimney starter. I might have to pick up a propane model because of all the California fire restrictions...

Plumas National Forest - Gold Lake - July Fourth

Well here it goes, my first trip report. I am not one for writing more than the minimum necessary, so hopefully you enjoy my laconic story telling! Got off of work on Thursday and my buddy was waiting for me so we could go run errands and get supplies, mainly in the form of craft beer, for the...

Seems like a pain in the ********. I remember it being easier when I tore it apart. Good luck finding a complete mirror soon!

4 Vehicle Choice for Budget SUV

I'd vote a full size Montero, but I'm obviously biased. Great rig, for a bargain used price. Yeah, the gas mileage isn't great for the power, but it's not bad. Plus, compared to a similar year Toyota, (not that you are considering one) you will have a lot if extra cash for gas.

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Finally decided to put the brand new Rubicon shocks I had laying around in the garage... A friend who works at a Jeep dealership donated them to the cause :wings: Of course, the job couldn't get done without my go-to IPA I also slapped on my M/T's for my Fourth of July weekend trip so I...

    richard310's 04 Xterra

The rig is looking great, Richard. Hopefully we can hookup on another trip someday. I haven't been as active as I should be on here, but maybe we can setup something towards SoCal fairly soon.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I can help you out there--one of the plastic latches that goes into the notch for the housing is broken. I believe there are a total of 3 latches. It drove me nuts, too. I took it apart and realized I didn't want to spend the $$ to replace the mirror. Could probably find one at a junkyard.

What Do You Dislike About Your JK

Let's see: 1) Use a different material on the cloth seats. Takes me hours to clean my boxer's hair off the seats and carpeting on the sides. 2) Headrests are not adjustable and the rears are not removable to increase visibility. 3) No captain's chair arm rest for the long I-5 drive 4) Fog...

    new to mitsubishi group

Hi Josh. Hope all is well. If I am not mistaken, the Montero's alternator is only 80 amp. I had 4, 100W lights on the roof and the battery would drain faster than it would charge. Actually, the main reason I put the beast of a battery was to try and compensate somewhat. The battery did help...
