I still say you should have gotten the GT V6.

    Toasty's '98 Montero Build

I'm in so deep now! I worked on the cruise circuit last week and now I'm getting into the real stuff! I'm learning so much.

    Toasty's '98 Montero Build

Been slowly chipping away at the wiring, went from tagged connectors to marked and verified connectors with individual wire ID. My friend Drew made me these labels with each wire number, color and duty printed. I got the Lexus side done last night as well. One challenge we faced was the cruise...

Nope, they're great. The only thing that might suck is if it's a 4 cylinder and has the 7.25" front diff, there aren't many locker options for it but maybe you don't ever plan on adding a locking diff.

These are DOT rated UTV radials but I agree, they will not last to the next oil change on pavement. There are some more street friendly radials that can be had in these sizes, I'm not registering this machine or really driving it on the road. My plan is to bridge the gap between overlanding and...

How are you protecting your gas tank?

An inch or so I'd say.

    Gen 3 and Siberian bushings

@MrGalantguy Yeah, my experiences have been pretty good with them. I especially like how they're not rock hard.

How are you protecting your gas tank?

I'd recommend something custom if you're wheeling hard, the aftermarket tank skids are okay and slightly better than stock but they also trap rocks and it's a real bummer when those rocks wear a hole in the tank. I'd raise the tank, do a 1-3/4" tube hoop around the front of the gas tank, this is...

    Gen 3 and Siberian bushings

@spacecowboy7777 Follow up to this is that recently I've seen a few sets of Siberians sort of melt for some reason and the last set of rears I ran actually unvulcanized from their metal sleeves which made them sloppy. Previously I had run them in several vehicles without issue, my son's '98 has...

I got some sort of appropriate tires for the original 14's, truck tires for 14's are not super common anymore but 30x10 UTV tires are!

Yes, I haven't talked to anyone at Spicer about it but from what I've gathered this was the case configuration for most all of the mini truck conversions of the era.

1979 L200 (Plymouth Arrow Sport truck)

With the original engine being in need of a lot of machine work I ended up finding a better donor engine from a Montero and went through that instead. I stripped the donor engine down to a short block before reassembling it with new parts. Seemed freshly rebuilt, I went ahead and replaced...

1979 L200 (Plymouth Arrow Sport truck)

"ran when parked" When I got it home I put a wrench on the crank to find the engine locked solid, I pulled the engine to do a rebuild and the findings were not great. The engine was badly sludged, had coolant in two cylinders and the mains were scored. The coolant was being fed in via the...

1979 L200 (Plymouth Arrow Sport truck)

I was going to get to that, It's actually very interesting what they did. This sort of modification was very common in the 70's for import pick-ups. Most of the Nissan and Toyotas got a modified Jeep front axle and some even got really old closed knuckle axles. There were a lot of companies...

1979 L200 (Plymouth Arrow Sport truck)

A while back I went to Colorado and picked up this sweet first Gen Mitsubishi pickup, it predates MMC's official 4WD pickup but was in fact sold new option upgraded to 4WD by Four Wheel Drive Engineering in Utah. This rig has been sitting on my friend's property for 15-20 years and it was...

    Montero SR 4M40 swap questions

The trans is the same except you'll find the gas valve body doesn't suit the diesel very well. It'll slip like crazy, you can adjust the line pressure and do some other modifications but ultimately you'll burn it up. Since you'd be trying to source a diesel bellhousing and flexplate to make it...
