Went west... NY to RTE 66 AZ, UT, CO, SD

Heading into Arizona we stopped at Bearizona, a drive thru wildlife tour. We were advised to park the camper over in the Post-tour parking lot as the wolves, if I remember correctly, like to chew on tires. I figured the bike on the back would look like lunch so we parked the camper and headed...

Who has 4 thumbs and want to see a HUGE hole in the ground... These guys! An impressive crater, but pretty expensive ($18 per adult). It was very cool to see, but the price kind of annoyed me... and then there was a Subway sandwich shop in the visitors center. I know its not a national...

Made a stop, really wished I had asked how much for the skulls? The guy was arguing about payment with the store clerk at the time.

We headed on to Holbrook AZ. The Campsite was nice and they had a pool, but felt like we were on the top of a plateau.. It was very windy. We were getting used to the campsites that were very flat, almost like parking lots. While in Holbrook we saw the Petrified Forest National Park.

So the Rte 66 book we used was great, my wife was able to plan out what she wanted to see, and I could see what was easy and not too time consuming. A 3 hour drive day quickly becomes 6 hours with stops, diaper changes, fill ups, lunch... I was glad to find a spot of real Rte 66, dirt, that was...

We headed up to Santa Fe NM for lunch and on the way back to Albuquerque came across a cool old mining town. I really liked the gears as a step. It would make a great patio step/ conversation piece.

The reality of long stretches of highway out in the middle of nowhere had really set in. While driving I was constantly watching the gauges to make sure everything was good. Every time I relaxed and convinced myself its all good my wife would unknowingly stress me out by saying "wow we are...

Heading into New Mexico I have tons of these pictures, which at the time seemed cool, now just plain. Growing up in NY, seeing the hills and Mountains seems normal, so being out in such flat country with a big sky was great.

No ziplines, my 2 year old was done after the Maramec tour. We cruised thru Oklahoma over a few days and made it to Texas, We had planned to camp outside of shamrock texas, but the campground ended up being closed and run down. So we got a motel room and enjoyed the town. Including the old...

We spent months planning the trip, estimating daily driving miles, where to stop, what to see. We left so much later than when we had planned (only 10 hours) any time I was driving it felt like we were behind schedule. But we didn't really have a schedule, we didn't have reservations anywhere...

The day we were leaving was supposed to be an easy day, slowly pack the camper, be well rested before heading out. I ended up working on the Jeep and camper for over 12 hours. We pushed our departure time back about 8 hours. From NY we had a straight shot out to St. Louis. There was one incident...

I decided it was time to travel out west. "Exploring" in NY is limited to say the least. I bought a small pop-up camper with a fridge and heater and planned to slightly modify it. To make the trip more appealing (what's more appealing than driving 30 hours to moab?) I agreed to jumping on rte...

Offroad Meteorite popup camper build w/ cross country 6k mile trip to follow

Before the camper was on the new trailer i wasn't sure if i wanted to keep the old frame or try to separate the camper from the old frame and mount it to the military frame. The cables run in the frame area so i would have to deal with that, plus the camper is literally screwed to the frame in a...
