Anything API SL or higher, e.g SM or SN will be fine.

Stick with OEM bulbs for the brake lights.
Stick with bulbs, a brake switch, and a IId tool. If the truck is regularly maintained, you don't need a box full of spares.
Have the alternator and battery tested.
Update: my AutoZone alternator is done. It lasted less than a year. An OEM is going in as I type this. Over eight bills installed, but I suspect it will last more than a year.
