    2018 Salsa Blackborow midtail overlander

Super fun bike! I rode it as my primary fatbike all winter last year. The mid tail is surprisingly different than the long tail BFD. Two completely different rigs. We really maximized the trail experience on this bike. I rode two iterations last year to get to this and it really is a trail...

    Picked up a Salsa Mukluk

Nice rig! Check out the Anything Cage HD's. They are a bit more durable for the unplanned bikes layovers and they have more hole to mount to. You can partner that up with the Anything Cage Bag that uses the webbing on the front to hold the straps in place so they are not always sliding down...

    KRAMPUS

Sorry, yes Co-opski nailed it. Alternator plates. They allow you to lengthen the stays for 29+ to fit.

    KRAMPUS

Remember that a new Mukluk with Alt plates and a Beargrease can fit 29+ or 27.5+ in those frames. I run 29+ in my Beargrease in the summer. Raises the BB just a little and makes it a killer trail ripper. Bonus is running fat tires when you want.

First Ride: Rocky Mountain Sherpa (Purpose-built for overlanding)

The Bucksaw will accommodate the 27.5"+ tires and rims on the market. The roll out on some of the tires is close to a 29er. One thing to note there are a lot of tires coming out in this range and width/height vary quite a bit. Keep that in mind when doing a swap. I don't know the demo...

Salsa Cycles Bucksaw Full Suspension Fatbike Update

The tires would not be ready when we needed to spec them and deliver the Bucksaw to market. We didn't want to delay this bike anymore.

    Another New Expedition Bike!

The Blackborow is our 5" specific fat bike. If you are going to use a fat bike in areas where floatation is a must, this is your bike. Deep sand, deep snow, or deep muck. It will be great for bike packing and off road touring. 3 pack mounts on the forks for Anything Cages and a rear rack for...

    Triumph Tiger 800 XC

I owned a 2011 Tiger 800 XC and sold it for a 2013 BMW GS800. There are great things about both bikes. I liked the control/gauges better on the Tiger than the GS. The suspension on the GS seems to be a bit more solid, but both need tweaking for serious off road riding. The layout of the GS...

    Purple reign oh my

Thanks for the kind words! It is a super fun bike. Still playing with and tweeking the parts on the bike. I am actually setting it up with my Beargrease 29"+ wheels this week for a long weekend of riding. Should be fun to see how it handles with that set up.

    What's next?

I was a skeptic of the 1x at first as well. I currently own the Split Pivot Salsa Spearfish with a 1x system. At first it felt like I was always in between the right gear I needed to be. I then however changed the chainring size on the front two teeth down. Holy cow, that was the ticket!!! I...
