Diesel engine options for classic Range Rover

Ive got a 3 door discover 1 with a 300tdi/R380, which i bought 5 years ago for £350. The inner bodywork needed a lot of welding, it had 145,000 miles on it. Its now got 215,000, Ive done 1 head gasket and water pump/radiator in that time. It'll sit at 70mph at just under 3,000 revs all day...

This is the very high tec interior lol, it suits me. Cant really see the point in covering it in fabric or carpet as most of the time the back is empty to allow me to use the back like a normal landrover

Yes the diffs were worth the hassle of changing. Changed the top seal in the power steering box last week, it was a real trap for mud, water and grit. Due to the position in relation to the front wheel, so thought a guard of some kind would be good [AT

Its been a while, Just back from a short camp on the edge of some wood's. Have been side tracked with a rather rusty discovery the last couple of months. But finally got around to changing over to 4.7 diffs. I did the rear one about 3 month's back, as it was the easiest one. And after the advice...

No idea, i could carry the bare frame and rest it on top of the body. lifting up the clad roof manually when i was working out strut positions , was a bit of a struggle. I might re make it at some point completely from alloy. But its still lighter than an ambulance, so im not to worried.

I only went for adjustable ones as i didnt know what the finished weight of the roof would be. And they're only adjustable in that you let some air out, until its enough to keep the roof up. But not hard to pull down.

Its a bit trial and error, one of my strut rod's is slightly curved . Due to pulling down to hard when i had them recharged, before i had let a small amount of air out. Didnt go for the ball end on my struts, just the 8mm eye's. Nothing that end has bent, so far.

The ones I used had a small Allen key on the side to let out excess gas. Will depend if yours are adjustable.

Thinking about it, I cut into the door top mounting studs enough to bend the door tops in. Then welded the cuts up.

Those door tops are so strong, if you put your knee just below the bottom edge and pull the door top toward's you. Holding the top about half way down either side, it should actually bend the top of the door bottoms slightly inward's. Used to work a treat on the old series door top's also.
