    Got me a 100

Um, we have a household of eight. Me and the wifey have six boys ages 3 to 14. We're the ''cool'' house in our little river town. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk

    Got me a 100

Hello all, I have been a Toyota fan for quite some time and have owned several, mostly first gen 4runners. As much as I like the old school yotas, they aren't practical for me. I don't do any hardcore wheeling anymore, I just want Toyota reliability, quality, and the ability to haul a bunch of...

    Intake plenum questions

I'm in the market for a gen 2 or 2.5 montero and have some questions about the intake plenum/butterfly issues with some of these vehicles. I have done some searching but most info is about how to repair the issue and I have a few more questions. 1. Which engines and years are affected by...

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

Well the wifey wants another montero so bad she took it upon herself to call back today and get some info. She luckily got a different salesperson who said he would call back and let us know what the problem was with the vehicle. Surprisingly he called back...He said it had a ''leak at the...

    New 1998 Winter Package

Nice, we had one just like it a few years ago but it had rust issues. I sold it to army trucks inc. It was one of my favorite vehicles we've ever owned. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

I'm trying to be patient for the right one, I also am looking at 3rd gen 4runners but they seem to be overpriced and high miles. I hope to find something within a month or so. I've had many cool 4x4's over the years but they have all been rustbuckets. I really feel I need to travel to get...

Also they probably don't like cash buyers, they probably like ppl to use their ripoff financing. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

Well I'm frustrated and feel like something shady is going on. I called a few days ago to ask for a bit more information on the truck. I asked if it smoked after idle and if there were any rust issues. The salesman took my info and said he would go check out the vehicle and call me back. A...

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

I'm waiting for them to send me some undercarriage and engine bay pics but I'm formulating a plan to go get this within the next couple days. It's about a 4 hour trip one way. I plan to drive there and rent a uhaul tow dolly or car hauler to bring it back. My tow rig will be a 2007 sequoia...

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

Thanks for the advice. It will be a cash purchase and I plan to lowball them over the phone, it will be tough to talk them down once I drive 300 miles there. As far as the crank bolt...Isn't the original one longer or something? I've owned plenty of old 4x4's and look forward to wrenching on...

Possibly looking at a 95 SR.

I found a 95 Montero SR for sale that I'm interested in looking at, problem is that it's about 5 hours away at a small dealership, you know, the kind that usually sell junk. However it looks extremely clean, has 134k, and they are asking 3k. Doesn't seem too bad of a deal. I owned a 98 gen 2.5...

    Harmonic balancer, roll pin

I'm resurrecting my old thread. Still the same problem, wobbly pulley. In the past I have replaced everything mentioned above and then some, but I have a new theory. This engine has the common mitsu valve seal problem, it burns about 1qt every 1000mi. Could the bad valve seals be causing the...

    Harmonic balancer, roll pin

The roll pin was sheared but I got it drilled out straight. I started the engine for a few seconds with the balancer off and the nose of the crankshaft had a slight wobble. I installed a new roll pin, made sure it was the correct fit, put everything back together and still a slight wobble. I...

    Harmonic balancer, roll pin

Great, thanks for the info. I bought a roll pin assortment and some good drill bits. I plan on tackling it tomorrow.

    Harmonic balancer, roll pin

Also, would I be able to start the engine for a few seconds with the balancer and acc. belts off to see if the crankshaft is the problem? Timing belt will be on of course.

    Harmonic balancer, roll pin

Hello all, I have a 98 gen 2.5, 6g74. My harmonic balancer has wobbled for quite some time now. I have done a complete timing set but it still wobbles, bolt and balancer are also new. I feel now that I may have overlooked the roll pin as being my problem. I plan on pulling the balancer back off...

Looking to buy a suburban, should I get 3/4 ton?

Well here is my old suburban which is now for sale. The oil leak turned out to be at the oil cooler adapter, so it was an easy fix. And here is my new suburban. I found exactly what I wanted and picked it up last week. It is a 97 k2500 that has been very well cared for. Very minimal rust...

Looking to buy a suburban, should I get 3/4 ton?

Ok, thank you. Well my 86 suburban has had an oil leak that got considerably worse last night. I am pretty sure the rear main seal let loose. Any advice on how hard that is to fix? I have to pull the trans right? I guess the pressure is on to find a newer/better suburban now.
