Last 4 years built a little Chevy tracker 4X4,at 200,000 put in new engine but with 270,000 wife does not like me in desert alone in my tracker and says Buy a new jeep. well I love my tracker but a green light to get a 2016 2dr Rubicon is to good to pass. so other than rock sliders what else is needed for 3-3+ rated trails. that's a tough as I will do and 95% of time its a 2-2+ like going up diablo drop off ect ect. they come with 32.5" tires so I think I can make tires work till they wear out. basically looking for opinions on which order to add stuff like bumpers, roof rack, ect. for me number one is rock sliders then looking for guidance. hopefully if all goes well I can post pic Monday-Woody

I love it when I get the green light from the boss to do something cool!

Honestly, I think you're probably fine with a stock JKR on 3 - moderate trails. The Rubicon comes with sliders, but many folks prefer aftermarket. Next, I would probably consider stronger diff covers and better skid plates to protect the underside. I would also recommend upgrading the stock headlights, they really do suck. Good luck!

Several companies make fully integrated skid plate systems, I use Rock Hard aluminum. Also the diff covers are a good idea and lower control arm slides, rancho and several others make these. If yours is not a Hard Rock then Ace, I think, Makes rock sliders that fit over stock Rubicon rails. One last piece you might look at is the AEV rear diff slide. Good luck and have fun out there!:wings:

Right off the floor the JK Rubicon is awesome. It comes with rock rails, and you could either modify those or replace them. Get something wide enough to make a nice step. Really helps for a lot of things.
If you go soft top, opt up for the Premium soft top. It is really a nice difference. If you go hard top, get the headliners.
Also, at least front mud flaps to help keep the sides from getting sand blasted. Rear mud flaps will keep trapped rocks from flying out and breaking someone's windshield. Very cheap.
Also the 4.10 gears are super nice to have over the 3.73. You may pay a small penalty in fuel mileage, but the Jeep is so "peppy" with them I think you'll like the trade off.
Mopar has a "Big Brake Kit", that has a great reputation (I don't have first hand experience with it). One thing I found lacking is brake pedal modulation at threshhold. More assist would give a wider threshold, which is very helpful on long technical down hills, or tough loose rocky climbs (for suspension loading to keep momentum).
This is all stuff you can have the dealer do before you pick it up.

If you are going to get an automatic, at least get an engine / transmission skid plate. There is a cooler line underneath with no protection at all. Not hard to get a rock or stick bounced up in there (see picture below).

The stock rear bumper makes a great storage for about 7 gallons of non-potable water. I'm sure you've already got a water jug for drinking water.

I think you are really going to like the JK. It is like one great big "Easy Button", and is so stress free to operate.

There are a lot of really great builds on here, so while you're waiting for the Jeep, you might want to read through them. Some pretty talented folks have done a lot of very cool things to their rigs.

You are one lucky man!

Thanks

Thanks for the pointers and especially the pic on the tranny line, that shows I need to change my order of mods and get that covered first. got the F250 detailed today to see what they will give in trade. its an 01 extra cab 4x4 diesel automatic. love truck but it cant turn for beans, its to wide for the canyons and long wheelbase kills me. its got a 96 9'Lance with solar on it now but going motorhome direction so time for her to go.

Looks like new, only better.
Yeah, Doves are small enough that you can pack them in the back for this season.
Now Pheasants are another story...

I could get three pheasants in the back if I could get three pheasants. Now that I have no dog, I have no chance. Just got a jeep, new dog next step, baby steps I am getting set up for retirement
