every market is different.

Texas has a glutton of trucks. Other areas not so much.

Clean, lower mileage examples that don't have lame modifications are hard to find here in NC, and the prices reflect it.

They are crazy $$ in this area. When I was looking for mine I found two in OR, one with 57K miles for $24K, and another with 40K miles for $25K. I felt lucky to get a nice and loaded one with 78K at $18.5K, but well over KBB. Most you see have over 200K miles and are still $15K.

I bought mine with 147k for $9,800. Granted it's an AC not a DC but $7000 seems like a lot for a couple extra inches of leg room.

Two years ago, I paid $12000 US (16,000 CDN) for my 06 DC 4x4 Limited TRD with 93,000 miles (150,000KM) on it. Seems a bit high to me, tho it does have some aftermarket stuff, but I don't count that. Its subjective and in the eye of the owner.

This... That truck in TN would get that price if clean enough. In AZ/TX, nope. In MN/IL? Probably worth more...

When I was looking for my DC here in CO-prices were crazy. If you wanted under 100k and 4 doors-it was going to cost you. Sometimes I see ones pop up like the ones being mentioned in Texas, but overall prices stay well over bluebook here. Unless you want 200k miles and rust.

I suppose this goes to show that if you are seriously looking for a truck, a site like cargurus.com that can search nation-wide with filters for miles, etc, goes a long way.
When I bought mine 3 years ago, I found it in OH (I'm in TX) - I had a buyer lined up for my T4R Trail Edition so I wanted to do something within a month so that I could sell the T4R. 2005 DC 4wd LTD trim, 38k on the odometer and I paid 19k shipped from OH to TX. That was the best deal I could find at the time - and it wasn't an OH truck, it was moved up there from SC, so no rust to be found.
