Welcome to the Mercedes Grand Cherokee club!!! :wings:

The really good news is that you actually got the 2009 version. The latest model year for the diesel GCs was 2008, but yours and mine were made next to the gas GCs with the 2009 model year updates. Now, buy the Jeep tow package wiring (with the brake controller wiring) and get a non-Jeep Class IV hitch so it's lower and you won't need to cut into your bumper. I have the stock hitch and while it looks cool, I have to use a 5" drop hitch for just about anything I tow. Unless you are worried about the breakover angle, then go with the Jeep hitch.

You are going to love this vehicle!
