100" Defender in Arizona

While driving from LA to Phoenix yesterday I past a rest stop that had what looked like a 100" Defender parked in it. Anyone know of someone with a custom job like that? I know Land Rover built a few and there are some homemade jobs out there.

I have always argued that the RRC SWB with it's 100" wheel base was the best performing rover ever made, I would love to have a 100" Defender.

A guy in our Rover club SoLaRoS is building a 100" Defender from a D2 frame.

This idea appeals to me; now it just needs to appeal to the checkbook!

Not the one you saw but a couple of 100" Land Rovers. The green one (now sand coloured thanks to Chris Scott) is a shortened 110 wheras the grey one was a Range Rover. Both run 200Tdi engines (Disco spec) and both have been given Single Vehicle Approval by the unbelievably tough UK Agency (VOSA) so are to a very high standard. The green one is mine :wings:

Ive been building one for a while now. Not much progress in the past few years as other projects (house) have become priority.

It started as a 1980 RR. The plan is for a SBC350, LT95, Saginaw PS, etc....someday.

Kevin, if you are ever in the Tahoe/Sac area feel free to drop in.

Jeff,

Will do, I lived in Coloma for a few years while working as a river guide. I'll stop by when I get up that way.

Thanks,

Kevin

Addiction??? Really, what makes you say that? :D

Truckee? We should get together sometime. Do you know Kevin Marshall, or Mike Owenowski(sp)?

We might have to get in touch with you Jeff. When I get back from Iraq in October we're planning on burning some time out west dropping in on the LRRForum guys and have been looking at spots to spread out a tarp and tent :)
