Check out Suzuki DR650, a much better dual sport bike, lighter and simpler, no radiator, no water pump, KLR's are top heavy, (iowned one for a few years), plus more power, I just added a 790 kit to mine, wow, same weight, same everything with almost 800cc this is a beast, I love it, go on ADVriders in the Thumper section, the DR has the most posts and the most views of any thumper, grear after market support

I paid 2600 cdn for my 04 a couple months ago, with 15k miles.
Came with new tires, new brakes F&R, new chain and sprockets, new rear spring and shock, new grips, fresh oil and filter, fresh fork oil and fresh brake fluid.

I just saw an ad go up today for another 04 with 20k miles for $3895.

Depends on where you are, and the phase of the moon, I guess.

Find what you like & can afford - then go ride it.

My thoughts exactly! Buy it, ride it.

It's funny though. When I ride my Road King all the cruiser guys wave at me, but not the sport bike riders. When I ride my Concours all the sport bike guys wave, but not the cruiser guys. When I rode my KLR, no one waved at me. :)

I sold my KLR just because I didn't get to ride it enough. It wasn't great on the street. It wasn't great in the dirt. But it did both pretty well and was a ton of fun to ride.
