Mitsu Fuso in 2008

For 2008, the FK and FM trucks (Class 6-7-8) have a redesigned cab that looks similar to the cab on the FE. These trucks have a 6 cylinder turbo-diesel that provides 514 ft-lbs of torque through 6 speed auto or manual trans. Fuso provides a 3 year, unlimited miles bumper to bumper warranty and a 250,000 mile, 5 year drivetrain warranty on the FK and FM models.

The FE line gets a Class 3 (12,500 lb GVWR) model. The FE125 has narrower 215/85R16 tires (down from 235/85R16) and de-rated springs, but otherwise it's the same as the FE145, 14,050 GVWR model. The FE models are powered by a 4 cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 391 lb-ft of torque and a 6 speed auto transmission. Warranty is 3 years bumper to bumper, and five years, 175,000 miles on the drivetrain.

The most intriguing news is this note:

"New 2008 Class 4 Crew Cab and 4WD models
will be introduced in the fall of 2008."

This could mean that the FG series will be eliminated, in favor of a 4x4 setup for the more modern FE line. Or maybe Mitsubishi has enough stock of the 2007 crew cab and 4x4 FG models on hand to last until next year. Hmmmm.

2008's on the dock?

I've been shopping, and according to several different dealers I spoke with, they have 2008 FG140's on the dock in Southern California. The wheel base is 138", which suggests they are not 2007's. The downside is they are $3-4K more than 2007 because of the emission particle filters - that and the wheel base are the only differences they know of so far - I'm guessing there are more.
