Use of WAG bags and PETT potties

Behind the tree when I pee, I sit down for mr brown.
I get about three uses out of a wag bag in my Pett toilet.
Less when the GF has come along.

I just ordered a Trasheroo from WIl today too, so I will be using it to haul the bags back home to dispose of.
Better than carrying them in the back of the rig in a trash bag with my other trash I haul home.

Poop once and start a new bag. I let the girl pee in it a few times before changing. If I don't keep an eye on it she will almost fill the bag.

Bags go into the Heavy duty trash bag in the Trasharoo. No way I'm putting them inside the vehicle because they stink. Before I had the Trasharoo I had a box on top of the roof rack for them.

This is what I do. I use a plastic bucket with a lid to hold them.

I have the Cleanwaste (PETT) toilet and tent enclosure. Big thumbs up for both. The toilet gives you the option of tucking the WAGG bag underneath the seat or spreading it out and covering the seat...my preferred method. Very sanitary and keeps things "tidy". There's a handy pouch to hold TP and hand gel.

The enclosure is very easy to set up and take down and will withstand high winds if staked down properly...Death Valley tested! Interesting anecdote...at OX13 we (3 trucks) were parked right near the gate and next to the toilet/shower building. Within a day that building was a complete catastrophe...it's the only continual negative comment I ever have about OX. I set up the tent next to my truck (inconspicuously) and it was very popular with others who brought their own toilet set-up (I don't share my "friendly sit"). There were quite a few people who came by to check it out, even when it was in use! A loud ahem took care of the lookey-loos trying to unzip the tent.

The double-bagged system works so well I do not hesitate to toss them in my well lined Trasharoo along with the rest of the garbage. No smell, no leaks, no problems.

Expensive? Yes, in terms of initial cost and the cost of bags. Internet has deals now and then and I tend to buy the bags in bulk. But it is a small price to pay keep our backcountry clean and free of the ubiquitous "white flowers". Oh...as to the original post? One sit...one use. Pee is for the bushes. :sombrero:

Well guys, I for one appriciate you folks putting thought into this. It shows not everybody is just "Going behind that bush". Thanks.! There is hope for humanity perhaps.

It is hard to beat a portable reading room for a little civilizing effect while on a trip!:D

We use the PETT as well with Wag bags. You can buy them on Army Surplus sites (yes the actual PETT Wag Bags) in 100 count boxes for a pretty decent deal.
Also, we get multiple uses out of them and a family of 4. On extended stays, we keep a small bucket with a lid on it with some powder lime in it. We sprinkle a little on top of the waste to keep smell down, and more importantly keep the unsightly down.

Not really. They do require that you pack out your poop, but don't mandate how you approach that challenge.

When I was there they asked to see my toilet . So I would say they do look for how you would use the bathroom and that you have come prepared on how to deal with your waste.

I usually get about 3 uses sounds about right

Tri-To-Go and Restop2's

We use the Tri-To-Go and Restop2. One use for us. For the money I would save, I don't want to run the risk of a rupture. I quit cleaning up other peoples poo when my kids got out diapers...that was a long time ago. :ylsmoke:

Thanks so much everyone. I feel much better about this thing now.

Now I just need to get out somewhere that it can be useful!

I'll chime in. The bag is plenty big but I don't find there to be enough powder to actually GEL much more than a single. Before my next trip, I plan to get a can of the powder and supplement each bag with an extra scoop.

One tip. When you install a bag, shake all of the powder in the bag to one corner and make sure that corner is rougly the target of the drop zone when it is in place. My first use, the bag was so big and the powder so dispersed that after using the bag I had to maneuver a lot of the powder to the waste before packing it up.

If you carefully roll the inner bag and carefully seal the outer bag, it remains a tidy package. I drop mine at the first dumpster I happen across for peace of mind though.

kevin: you can get a big bag on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUPMO7Q/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried it and it works for me. They sell a 5 lb bag that is double the cost, but you get 5x more. 1 oz will take up to 100oz of liquid. Thats quite a bit of liquid, like 3 quarts? I cut mine with clumping kitty litter, though I think my new strategy is just to put a tablespoon or two of the gelling stuff at the bottom, and then one scoop of clumping on the top, to absorb any extra, and also cover the looks and scent.

They did not ask to see our toilet when we were there. IIRC, we were there after you were. Could be it depends on who happens to be on duty when you pick up your permit.

I stopped buying the pett brand bags and started making my own for 1/4 the cost of their brand...... here is what you need and I have found this to work great... 1 qt size freezer bag ziploc, 1 gal size freezer bag ziploc, 3' of toilet paper, 1 cup of cat litter, 1 tall kitchen trash bag.... basically I just mimicked what they did. Everything stores in the 1qt ziploc, the cat litter goes in the kitchen trash bag, fold up the t/p, fold up the kitchen bag, fold up the 1 gal ziploc......The "used" kitchen bag goes in the 1 gal ziploc and then tossed into my trasharoo the 1 qt ziploc gets reused for the next kit made..... like I mentioned these can be made for a 1/4 of the cost of the name brand. I buy everything in bulk at costco, including the kitty litter.

Very nice Cowboy.
You could eliminate the toilet paper all the way and just include three seashells ;)

I don't care who you are, now that's funny! Thanks all for the great idea session. It's amazing how sometimes these newb questions generate such great idea sharing and fill in untouched topics.
