It's looking guuuuuud! :) and I eventually found out why you wrote "ut" on the outside of some plates. :p

It's good with a little mindf**k to keep them on their toes. :-D
So where in Sweden are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Marten,

Fantastic write up. This kind of thread is great for, as you said, showing people that anyone can do this kind of stuff in their garage with relatively basic tools and skills and perseverance.

And the bumper looks great too, it fits the style of the vehicle excellently.

That's a great looking bumper. It's got me rethinking a plate bumper instead of a tube. I really didn't think it could be done with out some of the fancier tools. How much do you think it weighs and could you go with thinner plating and still get enough rigidity?

I just read the whole thread (discovered via "New Posts"). Awesome. I think he said it was ~110lbs.

Yep I thinks it's around 110lbs. Sure you can do a lot of the areas in thinner material. This was the steel I decided on. It's strong enough to take a pretty bad beetling.

I don't suppose you saved your cardboard pattern cutouts? Would love to have a cut list for all the steel plate. Awesome work. Inspires me to build my own.
