my 1986 Bronco ii. its not much but it takes me where i wanna go...usually (currently its in pieces) so heres the small build to where it is now

first day i owned the truck

solid glass swapped in because the hinges on the old lift glass broke and theyre impossible to find so i just swapped in solid for $20

the current state of the truck. it has the 2.9l in it. it dosnt like to start and we (me and dad) figured it was either the messed up block plate or the bellhousing was rounded so i got a new trans to pull the bellhousing off and all the supplies for the bolt on 4.0l clutch swap which includes flywheel, clutch, starter, and block plate

the swap should be done this weekend hopefully. we were a bit delayed when my dad broke a clutch bolt off in the flywheel (we got it out. no harm to flywheel) and then i went to put the slave cylinder on and stripped the bolt threads on the trans itself. but it is fixable and if not i have a spare trans.

Nice clean rig.
Good to see another BII being put to good use.

You'll like the 4.0L clutch for sure. Much better pedal control than with the small OE clutch.

almost didnt update this cuz no one seemed interested but since theres activity ill keep going. i had to get a new hydraulic line because we had to put a 96 slave cylinder in so i finally got that in today, starter is in a wired up, speed sensors back in, and i found out that the new driveshaft i got is from an fm145 so its too long. tomorrow i will pull the old cv shaft flange off the transfer case and run that until i have money to get the ujoint shaft shortened. also i dont know if i put it in the previous post but the trans and transfer case are back in haha

Just because not everyone is posting doesn't necessarily mean no one's reading (you got over 375 views on your thread at this moment). ;)
Every time you add to it, you increase the chances of others taking further interest in what you got going here too.
The best part of it all, you've got an awesome dad there who's willing to lend you a hand with it. :cool:


What are your ultimate plans for it? You going to do the Explorer D35/8.8" swap? Lift/tires/lockers/gears? Anything for the inside? (sleep platform, storage unit, etc.)?

i do have an amazing dad! and yes id like to do a d35 swap then eventually do the 8.8 swap. tires id like to just have 31's and a 2"-3" lift. for the inside i really would like to make a platform that folds up and sits behind the back seat but im trying to do mechanical stuff atm for now when i camp i just throw a bunch of blankets down. i always get vehicles and do more visual than logical and mechanical, trying to break that habit with this one

this morning it was snowing, i was dead tired, and i had college at 1 so i didnt even look at the truck. gotta put my brother on the bus tomorrow at 830 and dont have work til 3 so i will be working on it. if nothing but good things happen i could be driving it to work tomorrow!
