Haven't done the trail since this spring. Chicken Point to Llama and Bell Rock singletrack is pretty chewed up, so I can imagine it's a tad washed out in places.

Well, understandably, you are talking about Broken Arrow, but I think datrupr is talking about the DeSoto mine route in the Bradshaws. Or is he? I'm cornfused :p I think a separate thread for DeSoto is appropriate.

BT, you are right, I am talking about DeSoto. Perhaps another thread would be appropriate. I will check with Mark on 4wdtrips. Thanks though. Also, the right step bar got bent upwards on Greasy Spoon through my eagerness to catch up, but the left is still in the stock position. They do greatly reduce my clearance, but I think they also help protect the rockers, they are pretty sturdy. I am just kinda thinking out loud. I do not care if they get a little bent, they will be replaced by sliders in the near future, just an excuse to get them sooner. :D

datrupr, the DeSoto Mine trip is being hosted by Mark (Crawler#976) and I think there are still probably 7 or 8 spots left open. This is the same trip that you expressed interest in at 4wdtrips.net. He also posted it at Yotatech. However, if you don't think the Trooper is ready for Broken Arrow, I wouldn't take it on the DeSoto trip. There is a potential for rocker panel damage during the first part of the trip. I'm not saying you can't do it, just saying the potential is there. (Lionsbreath, sorry to drift off topic).

Back on topic, I just ran Broken Arrow today. Totally impromptu! I was just passing by, and Uwe (whitethaiger) was riding with me - we were returning from the Keen canyoneering expedition... and I realized he had not been on that trail, so we did it. I noticed the front side of the "gatekeeper" obstacle has been filled in a bit, and so has the first big step to the first slick-rock area (bummer!) and also another optional line (big step) on trail right shortly after that. Still a gorgeous trail though.

DESOTO....I WANT TO RUN THIS TRAIL (preferably with amigos :D )
Where can I view the details Baja? THANKS!
BTW: I was talking about your Saturday. We did Powerline and we had a Taco go through the "canyon". Here:

Wow - GREAT pics! I LOVE that place. Looks like you guys hit alot of the fun spots! Brett is a great guy. I dig the new bumper. He was with us on the coke ovens run at AZROCKS - remember? If you want to razz him a bit, refer to him as "berm surfer" or "wrong way" :p he'll get a kick out of it.

Since this is a single-day adventure, I moved it to this section, from the planned expeditions section.

Anyone know of a nice place to camp in the area of Broken Arrow?

I'm thinking of Camping out Saturday night and meeting up with the gang for the Broken Arrow trail ride Sunday Morning.

I know Bajataco has a few nice places you could camp. I dont recall exactly where it was though.

Wish I could make the drive over. I am just swamped until after SEMA...

By Broken Arrow? Nope. It's in the middle of Sedona.
Nearby? Yes. Options:
1. About 2 miles south of the Village of Oad Creek you'll see a dirt road to the west that climbs the hillside. Fun road, nice open spot at the top. Pic below of a ridge climb on that road.
2. West of Sedona along the Pipeline Trail. Take US89A toward Prescott to FH525C north. Turn and go to the Pipeline Trail (see PNF Map). Follow this to a selected side trail (for privacy...Jeep Tours come out here) and drive a side trail to a spot. :luxhello:

Oh yes...an amazing spot! Grab the Charles Wells book and hit the Oak Creek Homestead Trail. Nice trip in and out. The road is a bit easier now due to recent improvements. Here's a few shotts:

Just an FYI - the pipeline (Greasy Spoon) trail is now "technically" within the Red Rock district, which means that "technically" a pass is required to park there and leave your vehicle, and no camping is permitted.

And the Oak Creek Homestead property is posted no camping allowed. (it is a gorgeous spot right on the creek though! Too bad it is restricted this way :( )

SINCE WHEN? Did they close the Homestead to camping when they activated it for Jeep Tours? ERRR.

As for Pipeline, I know the west end near 525C is the west boundary and I believe it varies in position. Ya, it be a good idea to get a free map from the PNF so you're safe.
