Shoved some leds into my Whelen 97 housings as an experiment.
Work pretty well for lighting up trailer.
Can't really adjust angle. Would be nice to point them down just a bit.

Got a few of these to try to add to other flood lights that don't need to be so bright.

Any one have any roof rack ideas??

I don’t want to use the rain gutters.
I’m thinking there may be some kind of track system that can bolt on to the flat top of the ambulance box that will allow me to mount standard Thule or yakima racks to the top. The tracks could give me some configuration adjustments depending on what I am carrying.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah man the fiberglass truck caps get little aluminum tracks that bolt down. They need to be set a minimum width, but they can carry loads far and above the advertised rating. I've driven 16 hrs at a time with 6 kayaks. That's over 300 lbs before wind load

Option B would be D rings bolted to the roof. That's what I did. Drill where you can pull out a light and reach inside to tighten the nuts. Long nose vice-grips are a god send.

Option C would be the bolt down style universal systems. I have 16 of the Smittybilt Defender Rack feet if you need them.

Happy Holidays man!

Thank you for the rack ideas guys!!
Much appreciated.
Those airline tracks look awesome. Never seen that before but I feel I need some kind of bars. Some of the boards I have have quiet a bit of rocker and fins so they can’t be strapped directly to the flat roof.
I do however like the low profile of just the tracks or d-rings like Alex used.

Swapping out vacuum pump today.
Bering has been making a racket for quite some time now. At least pretty sure that is problem.

Vacuum pump went in easily.
Only issue was I pressed the pulley on before putting bolts in holes and had to partially pull it off again to get one of the bolts in.
Surprisingly easy compared to some other van 7.3 tasks!!

Thanks for checking in!!
I have not done much lately.

Other than have the tranny rebuilt, replace a leaky heater core and replace somewhat warped front rotors.
I’ll certainly update if anything else gets done.

The tranny was acting up for a while so I’m glad I handled that. I lost reverse on a snowy day in a spot that I could not turn around without backing up. Had to get flatbeded out. The truck that came to get me got stuck on the snowy road and we had to dig him out before I could get loaded.

I did the rotors last Sunday. I noticed some brake pulsation after a trip upstate. I’m not sure if I overheated them, or sitting most of the winter did it, but much better now.
May replace brake booster and master cylinder at some point soon.

Saw an E450 with Hydro Boost at the wrecking yard. It appeared to be stock. Hydro works very well... but is gone the moment the engine stops turning.

I’m running a 2001 Booster and master in my 97. Works great. The ‘01 master has a larger bore and won’t work with a ‘97 booster.

A few things got done this summer.

New brake booster.
While that was out I installed the TS 6-position chip that I have had in my garage for about a yr.

Also finally installed new headlights.
