Very nice. I have a small boat trailer that I have similar plans for, an open-top
canoe/camping equipment trailer.
its exactly what i want ..
Is the axle in the original location? Generally on boat trails, they are very rearward to sit under the center of gravity for the back heavy boat... I expect to need to move my axle forward to sit under the center of mass of my cargo (canoe, boxes, etc)
yes the axle its in the original location for now ,, i guess time will tell if it neeed to be relocated .
I don't see spring shackles (not common on such small trailers) but are there slides for the springs? They appear to be firmly mounted front and rear.
No shackles , i did a SOA on the factory slipper springs ..

One thing you might consider is reinforcing the upright pieces, if you were to brake suddenly there will be a fair amount of leverage/twisting force against the bolts holding them in place.. Something like this, proposed new truss members are in red. Force pulling forward on the boat (or, actually, pushing backwards on the trailer, i digress) would put red truss members in compression and have a lot of strength. Two would be a big increase, perhaps at the front to not get in the way of loading/unloading the trailer under the boat.
definetly will reinforce the rack ..
Did you keep the rear board removable like a tailgate?
