Icon Coolers

Looks like there's a new cooler maker on the block and no discussion of them yet.

Anyone seen these in person? Price is tempting, but where do you think they were able to cut a few corners?

Their FAQ doesn't touch on a few questions I have, so I've sent them an email. Will keep you posted when they reply.
I asked about:
- where they are made
- organization with trays/dividers
- uniform foam thickness - this image from Engel says a lot: http://www.engel-usa.com/images/stories/engel-coolers/engel-yeti_comparison1.jpg
- Dry ice compatibility

I'm still in the market for a cooler to supplement my 30L fridge. Whatcha think?

My goodness. The spelling on that website is terrible! Just reading through the "Why Icon" page I found about a dozen spelling errors. And no detail photos. There is a link to a private facebook page, but I am not on FB so I can't see it.

For the same money I would go with a Pelican

I'd love to know where one could buy a pelican 65 qt for anywhere near $234 (best shipped price on an icon 60 qt I found).

A guy named Mike wrote back to answer my questions based on their current line, but mentioned that they have a new line - made in the USA is launching in the second quarter of this year. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on them.

Current coolers though are made in "Southeast Asia" (presumably thailand) like a lot of other brands and claim a consistent 2" foam thickness around cooler and lid. Aftermarket bait trays can be used, but no dividers. "Never had any issues with dry ice."
