Both are really great.
A few cool things you may value that the 4runners have that tacomas do not:
-Roll down rear window
-Torsen Center Diff that gives you on-road AWD
-fully boxed frame
-made in japan
-the sports and limited have bigger brakes
-v8 if you choose
-slightly roomier second row seat
-Led taillights 2006+
-Coil spring rear suspension
Of course, the tacoma can carry a shell, flip pack, camper or none and they can be had with a rear locker.
