I mostly car camp for just a night or two, so I can over pack a bit. These bulky/heavy items make for a much better experience:

Cot
Full size pillow - between the cot and pillow, it is just as good as home.
Kodiak Tent
Buddy heater is nice to extend the camping season
Chairs - you don't really appreciate them until you're someplace with a lack of comfy seats

1) Memory foam mattress cut to fit my sleeping platform

3)GOOD beer...not the cheap junk most people like
4)Baby wipes for anything and everything
5)Kirkland trail mix

1. Pop top to sleep in.

2. Memory foam pad to sleep on.

3. Full size pillow.

4. Cooler

5. 4.3 ltr v6 4x4 van

Coming from a backpacking/kayaking camping back ground, this overlanding stuff is extremely luxurious in general. :coffeedrink:

1. Inflatable mattress and a battery pump to fill it, still ground tent camping
2. Cigars
3. Strong back chair
4. Coleman camping table which I use as an end table as strong back chairs don't do the bev thing very well or any type of pouch
5. Kelly Kettle, French Press / best damn coffee I can find

If you think about it everything is luxury beyond a tent, sleeping bags, food and water. I'm always struggling with room (and additional weight to an extent) in the truck since we're 3+dog in a small SUV so some items I have to leave behind. Here're things that we do bring with us regardless:

1. 3.5" XL REI inflatable pad for me, 2.5" regulars for the gf and kid.
2. Soft, collapsible XL dog crate
3. Nemo Helio
4. Propane firepit
5. Coleman tent heater
6. 45L IndelB fridge

Things I'd like to bring that I often leave behind:

1. My coleman gas lantern (love the sound!)
2. ARB awning, usually stays home :(
3. Additional tools (cordless impact gun etc)
4. Hammock, most places don't allow hanging a hammock from a tree
5. Full sized pillows
6. 12v blender for ice-cream shakes
7. Keurig
8. Solar panel

3. 3000°K (soft-white) LED lantern (home-built out of a metal Malibu landscape light, four Cree XM-L LEDs)
4. Solar panel & Morningstar MPPT CC
5. Coleman toaster (toasts using your stove).

Welcome to the forum!

I didn't list my trailer since, for me, it's an essential, not a luxury... :coffeedrink:

Great idea for a thread!

1) Eno double-nest hammock with tarp
2) Pillow from home (as someone else!)
3) Privacy tent with solar water bag (I usually boil the water)
4) Wife's whole wheat pizza dough (first night camping... It's a tradition to make pan fried pepperoni pizzas, oh and a bottle of wine or two)
5) Mexican Train (dominos)

Must have more info on pan fried pepperoni pizzas!

Please?

1. ARB Fridge, by far the #1 best item ever purchased for camping (cold beer and cold milk)
2. Since we sold the Autohome and are back in a ground tent, the Therm-a-rest NeoAir. Used it for the first time this past week-end. Super warm and comfortable with a North Face sleeping bag.
3. Full size Serta memory foam pillow from home
