2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

Started wheeling a few years back in my 88 4runner and have learned a lot. Did mainly local trails within 1-2 hours of home. The runner is built with over landing in mind but with the original 3.0 v6 and unsure if the motor will die on a trip. I decided to keep the runner to local trips and build another vehicle better suited for the long drive. I know the tundra isn't a typical over landing vehicle but the taco was just too much $$$ used. Similar mpg when loaded up if not better in the tundra. I do own a quad and recently a RZR. The tundra was a no brainier.

When I 1st picked it up last year around August 2013 with 97xxx miles
How it was set up with 3inch spacer lift front and 1 inch rear block
285 cooper tires and 16x8 rims
Otherwise all stock.

Has your typical axle boot leak. Rack and pinion leak.
Due for 90k service which includes spark plugs. t belt, water pump. (Just started leaking too)
Coolant, power steering, brake fluid, transmission fluid exchange.
Front and rear diff service. T case fluid service.
This was all done within a week of owning it
Happy to see it has the factory LSD

Was tired riding all weekend so I backed it up into a hill and road my quad on to the bed

Since I purchased street driven truck only. The lift kit didn't meet my needs
I also started to learn more about the newer suspension on the tundra. Much differnt than my torsion bar 88runner

At full droop the upper bj would hit the coils. Found this out on the pismo trip from last post. A lot of knocking noises.

The fix was a must and after some research I ordered up some camburg upper control arms. Which should correct caster as well.
Fairly easy install with all the tools I have.

Looks great! My 2001s about to get the 90k mile service as well. Look into the OME coil and bilstein shock setup to match your camburg UCAs.

After the new upper arms. I took another trip to pismo for the turf and surf 2013 that I8mud was hosting.
Much better this time around.

I didn't find a camper shell in time and was told how to build this. Worked out a lot better than I thought. We could have tent camped but it was November and gets pretty cold at night

Thanks guys. More to come. Pismo is always a fun time. Just don't go on holidays unless you really love to party.

Next came a CB. Wanted it under the radio but the cb I got which is a newer version of what is in my runner wouldn't fit there as clean as I liked. Picked it up pretty much new for $30. Found another spot and so far it works good there. Almost out of sight.

I never cared for the rims or the coopers. I wanted to down size to bring my MPG closer to what the truck is rated. Found a used set of factory rims. I painted them a dark gray. Threw a used set of BFG AT 265/75r16
