M416 reconditioning

Picked up this M416 last April 2014 , it looked OK, some light rust. First couple of picture is when I got it home, last two pictures is after about 3 months of work, includes sand blast and repaint
Army green OD and minor mod like the easy no weld extended tongue to 48". You can see the difference in length from stock to modified. It's almost done, ready to use.=brian

That is a nice build. What do you use it for and tow it with? I would be interested in seeing the restoration pictures and notice a lot of little upgrades. I have to adapt a wheel to the trailer jack like that.

extension tongue on 416

Mark.
see post by Baddandy @ http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/100213-Andy-s-M416-Rehab/page4 post 38. It extended 19"longer than stock, also it's best to remove tub, and remove front drain,as it is on top of the new side rail. New 2"x3" side rails are 58" long. And my tow unit is in the pic =2003 Chevy with a pop up camper and I will use the trailer as a storage trunk..

Building a lid/top for M416

Well I tried a plywood top with a hinge down the middle (front to back), covered with a tarp to keep the inside dry. Then I tried a truck tonneu cover cut to size fiberglass , way to heavy at 50lbs. Then I used 4" U channel aluminun with 1.5 legs , its light weight, complete top weighs 30lbs. I use car hood rods to prop it open, This will give me more height room inside plus better security. =brian

Off Ebay=You can type in listing #381336933244 and purchase. seller= 1moparts, states "We can change this decal to what you want". Make your request in the notes to purchase of what design to want. I had Combat Rated over M416. I now think Combat Proven over M416 sounds better. I ordered 2 items. brian
