These were cosmetic versions of the standard line (except for the tach) but they really stand out. We owned one for awhile until I got tired of hitting my head on the ceiling when we hit bumps – I'm tall.

Besides the new floor and 3-window tent this is about perfectly stock. In fact I'd be afraid to drive a VW where the engine was that clean!! Would want to know who did the engine (and what heads are on it) and the rest of the mechanicals as it does matter.

Can't comment on price – things have changed since I sold mine – but this is one that I really wouldn't mind in the driveway. Good luck on the sale.

I did the engine, retired mechanic, I found a good set of un-cracked VW heads, put in new springs, keepers, valves and hand lapped them in along with lapping in the new cylinders. I restored this for my own use and as a hobby so I didn't worry about being "correct", The seat belts, electrical and other improvements are for safety and practicality but I have most of the old parts. I always have a project in progress. Decided to go bigger with a bathroom so now I'm building a camper using a new Promaster van. The prices of the buses have gone up like crazy in the last few years due to increase interest by baby boomers, europeans constantly nabbing the rust free ones since they are worth allot more there for some reason, and the end of the type 2 bus being built in Brazil last year.
