Is there a portable 12 volt freezer to make ice?

I've searched and searched but cannot find what I'm looking for. What I want is to re-freeze the 1 gallon polyethylene containers that I already use for ice in my cooler. Or as a next-best option, refill them with (really cold) ice cubes.

So far the best that I have found would use an inverter and consumer grade ice cube maker which is lame.

Any ideas that don't require a full size 12 volt refrigerator/freezer?

It takes a lot of energy to make ice (probably a couple hundred watts to have any significant quantity of ice in a reasonable amount of time, well above the ability of a normal 12v fridge/freezer)... This makes impractical a machine that plugs into a cig-lighter socket for example.

I think only practical option may be a 120V ice machine (or two) and inverter like you say (or maybe a tiny generator, 800-1000 watt or so) if you need enough ice to fill a cooler/jugs for a cooler.

I got rid of my cooler and just went with a 12V fridge. No more worries about ice at all now.
