1991 HZJ73

Hey guys new on this forum but not new to the world of 70 series, bought my first 1989 LJ73 in 1994 when I was living in Belgium.Almost every model and variant of the 70 series have been in my possession at one point in time with my 2 favorite models being the KZJ73 and the HZJ73.KZJ is not old enough to import so I have a few HZJ73's around now in Texas.

My 1991 HZJ73 is a lhd with ac which is very hard to find in Europe,it belonged to a friend of mine over there for almost 20 years and I have it now about 2 years.

I’m new here on this site , I’ve had a few cruisers over the last 6 years . I’m no expert by any stretch on the imagination. I was lucky enough to be a at the right place at the right time to land this cruiser. I had zero To do with its original build ...I just added a few things after I purchased it . It runs and drives amazing with the swap.
I own a RJ70 also and I like it too . It’s great for its purpose of Daily driving in El Salvador, But not for US highways, there is no way I’d want it here because they struggle after 55mph with a 4 speed and 22r.

The build thread on the BJ73 is over on ih8mud if anyone want to read it. The basics are listed below.

Year- 1985
Model- BJ73
Make- Toyota
Engine -Chevy LS3
Trans -GM 6L80E
Nation sold new - Spain
Resto mod work performed by -Torfab Everett WA
Diffs -Harrop E lockers with nitro gears sets
TC - 80 series
Lift - trail tamer springs and shocks
Etc etc etc ...the list is loooong .

The roof rack is a Front Runner from South Africa. I was at a loss as to what to do for it , since it has a FRP top. I searched the web and found zero I liked . Then Jeff at Rugged Overland Outfitters recomended the system and brand.

Since the rack is a modular system it can have the foot mounts located wherever you need them . There is no rain gutter on the rear side windows , but the BJ73 has them above the rear doors. They are actually very strong and made of metal that is embedded into the glass. I wouldn’t be afraid to put a RTT on it if need be.

The build thread, it’s not very detailed unfortunately. It was mainly a thread to show how much went into creating what it is today . There where several things changed along the way and a couple since the thread was last updatesd. One big change is it now has a GM 6l80e in it instead of a manual .

Do yo know the model number for the Front Runner rack? I have a '88 BJ74 and trying to get more info about this rack.
I'm wondering if you have the 3/4 Slimline 70 Series rack....KRTL014L

Thought I had best register Cecil the 76 into the EP Hall of 70 Series.

Bought stock standard 5years ago with only a Toyota winch bar. We've slowly built it out to suit our solo, remote, and adventurous travel.
We camp in either a tent or a swag and the rear has been fitted out to organise and store all our equipment with ease of access.

The next instalment will include Lithium and more storage optimisation, cant wait.

Photo is from our adventure in May 2018
