The whole drive-train looks very different to my Vario 814. I had assumed it would be very similar. Is it a Mercedes supplied 4 wheel drive ?

Of course not 614d does not happen with all-wheel drive, bridges and transfer case completely taken off the truck GAZ-66

The GAZ-66 axles look very solid. Do they have diff-locks? How did you adapt the transfer case to the transmission?
I've always wanted a diesel GAZ-66.
Still lots of ice around in Surgut? Here in Anchorage Alaska (city of same size), latitude 61 N, no snow on ground hardly at all since about 1 Feb.

Yes two axles have automatic diff-locks? Transfer case is separate from the transmission and driveshaft connected? Diesel mercedes OM904 very good motor, has a conventional injectors and a separate pump for each cylinder. The temperature of about 0, ice on the roads are gone, the snow is now only in the forest. But even before the end of May can be snowing.

This is an amazing truck! It's a little off topic, but I've been looking for options to turn my vario either into 4x4, or at the very least a rear axle diff lock. The problem is, I live in the UK so no GAZ 66 trucks here Any UK folks on this forum who can think of/recommend a suitable 4x4 donor vehicle? No problem fabricating to fit, just need one with similar track width, and that I could get a bell housing to fit the gearbox/transfer case to the 904.

For a difflock axle I've been looking at the Iveco eurocargos, not sure what I'd need to do to get it to fit tough, or if track width is the same.
