"Chuck Rose the Truck" finds a new home....

So I went and bought a bunch of this.....


And started to make an over the camper shell rack for two kayaks and random other gear.









Working on the rack more tonight. Also got the front bumper painted black with Rustoleum bedliner. Will post a pic once I get it back on the truck.

Chuck Rose still needs a full tune up. Hopefully with tax money more can be done. First trip scheduled for April 18!!

I'm enjoying driving her around town in the meantime!!

NICE! I can't wait to see your rack finished and on. I'm wanting really bad to build one for my work truck- or dd. It's gotta be strong- I'm thinkin of putting a tent up on it for camping. Yours looks like it's gonna be stout. Good job so far on your rig too!!

I'm not sure if your aware, but one thing I noticed is your build sheet lists the rear axle a Corporate 9.25 HD rear axle. That axle is a semi-floating axle used in the 1500 series and some 2500LD trucks. Most 2500 with a 5.9 gasser have a Dana 60 Full Floater. If your going to haul heavy you may want to consider a swap to a Dana 60.

Thanks Halligan for the advise on the rear axle. As of now the plan is to only haul camping gear, kids and some trash. But if anything breaks I will be replacing with upgraded parts and will find a nice used Dana 60 or just go with a new Dynatrac 60.

Rack is 90% complete. Have to add some shovel and axe mounts and expanded metal on the front two baskets.







New tires this next week hopefully. Thinking about going with Cooper Discoverer STT tires in 315/75R16.

I've always been a Dodge fan. I would rock a Dodge anytime. I just don't happen to own any right now. I think it is Ford's your thinking of….I don't do Fords or have anything good to say about them.

Rack looks great and strong enough to do the job. I am hopefully getting my old Dodge up and running and on the road this weekend. Its my first Dodge and I cant wait to start driving it.
