Had Cooper 255/85 ST's in the past, considering ST Maxx

The ST's were pretty loud. Anyone run both? Are the Maxx's more quiet on the highway? I am going to go back to a 255/85 from my 265/75 regardless so I just want a good tire with reasonable road noise.

Mine are actually quieter than when my duratracs were new, very impressed with them was surprised at how heavy they were. These are 255/85r16

From what I have heard the Maxx are much quieter than the STs. That is secondhand info; I have tried neither yet.

I have a set of TS/Maxx 255/80R17's on my 2011 T4R. They are slightly louder than the 265/70R17 AT3's I had on before them. I had the Maxx's siped and have really liked them in snow/icy conditions. They are on stock rims. The rig has a 3" OME lift and the Maxx's rub just a bit on full right or left turn in reverse. I can easily live with that.

I haven't run them myself, but I've done lots of research and reading since I'm planning on them being my next tire. From what I've seen, most people are impressed by how quiet they are, and I have seen people specifically state that they're quieter than the Cooper ST (which, from what I've read, was a surprisingly loud tire given that it's an AT not MT).

Lots of good reading:

I just had a set of ST Maxx's installed on my 2015 4Runner on Monday (three days ago). They are 255/80/17. I too was impressed with how quiet they are. Granted, they are louder than the factory "P" rated all-season tires (Dunlop Grandtrek AT20's) but they aren't 'noisy' or loud at all. I could pick out the noise increase, but only because I was specifically listening for it with the radio off. My wife will NEVER notice the difference (using her as a casual, uninterested, non-biased observer).
