36 amps is no issue for rooftop solar, especially when the unit will be needed most when its sunny.
How many watts of solar do you have? Whats size battery bank? Whats your other usage?

I believe we are talking 36 amp/hr with the ac but i could be wrong. 36 amp/hr is alot of power.

630 watts. 520A/hr
a lot or little power is all relative. If you want to run air con off battery you need plenty of solar or a genny(yuck)
What sort of duty cycle for the aircon? how hot? how well insulated is the rig? The variables can go on forever.

Yea I guess if run your AC in the winter time and have minimal insulation and use a headlamp and campfire it just may work out!:p

3 hrs at 36 amp/ hrs brings you down to 80% on your bank. How many amps do those panels push at lets say 75% efficiency?

Just curious.

FWIW, I sized my LifePo4 battery pack at 400A so I'd have just enough capacity for one full night of full blast AC. I'm hoping I'm insulated well enough that it won't have to run full blast to keep it cool, but even if I am, I have 600W of solar plus the ability to charge on shore power or from my 220A alternator, which means getting back to full during the next day shouldn't be too difficult.

I have similar numbers, but in AGM, will be interested to learn of your real world results.

After reading how worthless/scammy the small affordable portable acs are, that sleeping cube seems like it actually WORKS, which is great. But man, that pricetag. I could buy three of them, or I could buy a whole other van! hah. i think people underestimate the value of a good fan and making sure your beers are cold!

I think its all about comfort and taking the edge off of hot and humid camping situations.

Ideally 12volt. And there are plenty of companies catering to no idle truck laws for semis.

They seem to pull about 38-50 amps for those type units. But it also depends on BTU output. They all generally seem to go hand in hand.

More amp draw more btu output ha.

For my rig build out. I think the UGo 12 volt portable is a great way to go!!

3250 btu should be plenty for my cubic footage. And some batteries. The idea is to stay away from gas run generators, or inverters and hungry 5000btu wall units in homes. But it all depends on your particular setup

I like the idea of being able to take the UGO 12v unit out in cold months and has the Danfoss compressor. I think for bigger cubic footage you would need a back wall mount 12v system or roof mount 12v.

Heatso:
https://www.heatso.com/autoclima-u-go-portable-air-conditioning-12v/

$1273 with 3250btu

Cruise n Comfort has several. This kit is $2700 for 5000 btu http://stores.12voltairconditioning...ni-split-system-freon-lines-are-not-included/

Artic breeze. I think its very expensive. More than the cruise n comfort. Maybe $4,200?

Red Dot also has setups for 12volt.

VoltAir IQ $3,700
https://www.voltaair.com/product/iq-no-idle-ac-unit-for-trucks/

Airworks. Dont know the price 10,000btu!https://www.airworks.com/

Dometic has 24volt ones

Webasto I think had a Blue cool model.

You can get lost in this stuff. Just comes down to $-$$-$$$-$$$$. Cubic footage and battery bank.
