GENERAL AT2

Been following the series and all the, in the shop's also. Love them, keep it up.
Had a question about the general AT2. I'm needing some new tires, right now I have the cooper discovery st (255/85/16).
After 30,000 they had getting pretty bad. How many miles to get out of the AT2's (285/75/16). I'm just trying to find me a good set of AT's, my truck is my DD.
Thanks for your help.

I can't speak to that tire size. I have stock size (265 70R17) AT2's on my 4runner. General had a good rebate on them when I picked them up and given the good reviews they've gotten from XO and other groups, I jumped at the chance.

Just a tiny bit more road noise over my stock tires, and maybe a tiny dip in average mpg (hard to tell with the different driving conditions I encounter). I've only gotten a few thousand miles on them, but so far little to no wear. I did put them to good use on some rocky and muddy trails; they worked very well. I'll have to wait and see how they do in the snow (which is the main reason I got them as they have the M+S and the snowflake snow rating).

I have the AT2s (partly because of XO's use and watching their success!). I have them in that size and I really like them. I run them on a 100 series DD and they do great in mud, snow, hot summer pavement and downtown city driving. ! I've got about 30k on mine. i'm starting to get a small bit of cupping due to saggy front suspension on my rig (which I'm fixing!), but keeping them rotated better would have helped with that.

like Dalko said, I did notice a dip in MPG (but they are a bit bigger) and I wouldn't say they are any louder than the BFG KOs I have on my other truck, in fact I'd say quieter...

Love pooping in the woods. A nice points game to play on a trip involves the grumpy. Poop in the woods = 1 point. Poop with a view = 2 points. See an animal while pooping = 3 points. See an animal pooping while pooping = 4 points. Looser buys first burger and beer.

Also wanted to share my favorite poop story. Keep scrolling if you're not interested.
In college, i went backpacking with a group of students over Spring Break in the Grand Canyon. While down at Hermit Rapid camp site along the Colorado River, i had the calling. I left camp and went up a hill, away from trail and water to dig a hole. Not wanting to lean on a cactus, i decided to use the Ole Squat method. Removing the pants was the easiest and safest method. Heck, i was half way naked, so shirt came off too. Then i got to thinking, there probably aren't many people only wearing shoes taking a grumpy in the grand canyon. Was a very liberating feeling.
