Tembo Tusk Scottle Recipes, Tips and Tricks

XploreBaja

Observer
Seasoned after the flip with a 10-rub seasoning and then cooked medium rare and smothered with blue cheese irish butter while resting for 5 minutes ... served on a remote Baja beach.

A traditional staple on XploreBaja Adventures and the name is "Dirty Ribeye."

Enjoy!

Xjintx,

Send me a PM along with a picture and I will see what I can do to solve the issue.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hey guys... probably better place to post this but here seems to be the experts ;) Just returned last night from a long weekend trip. The first evening out I tried to fire up my Tempo Tusk. The gas was just leaking out a little release hole opposite side of of burner control. Tried two different bottles so the same. Had no service to google but the guys next site over were heading to town so I asked them to stop at Walmart :) They were able to pickup a new single burner Ozark Trail stove. Looks almost the same as mine with a few subtle differences.

So I unscrewed the little cap on my broken burner. There is a small rubber gasket that appears torn. It is possibly a safety device? My first question is could I have done something wrong... my Skottle has been used maybe 10 different time... I'm a newbee. Secondly and more important is there a repair kit? I probably need and backup... the Skottle was the only stove I had besides inside my camper and I try not to cook inside.

Thanks and sorry I rambled.

Looking good XploreBaja !

I can't think of a better place to use the Skottle than on a Baja beach!

Thanks for posting!

Jerry, not to bother I bought new one and talked with manufacturer. They said that it was a relief valve and is weak link for safety reasons. They confirm they do go out regularly. There is not a replacement part or rebuild kit. At the cost of a new single burner I am good with that. Still will buy a spare so I can cook if it happens again off the grid .

I ordered the Skottle through Blue Ridge Overland Gear with a few extra items so It's hard to say on shipping. The duty and brokerage were around $55 for FedEx. You would likely be closer to Jerry to order direct.

I recently picked one of these up from Andy at jackcovers.com, and I have been using it every weekend for the past month just about.
Yesterday my new outdoor cover 2.0, the wind-guard, and a steamer basket came for it.

Meals are so easy to cook on it.
Cannot wait to try it out when I get out camping later this year.

I follow a guy over on Instagram (Jerry knows him) called "Thejeepcalledyeti", and I saw him using this seasoning called Slap Ya Mama, and I am hooked on the stuff.
I got the cajun/white pepper blend in the white round shaker, and this seasoning goes with everything.

I'd love to see a grill disc with perforations to flame broil/char food. That combined with a lid would make it a near perfect cook setup for home or travel.
