Has anyone considered a battery storage device like the Goal Zero Yeti by packing 18650 or other batteries and circuitry into a decent sized ammo can? I don't know enough about the circuitry and electronics to understand if a metal container would cause a problem, but I assume some type of lining would alleviate that if it's a concern.

As long as you secure everything in place and provide necessary ventilation I think it would be fine. I'm sure it's been done.

Not certain how much ventilation the Yeti needs for cooling ... However I started out carrying some batteries and a ammo can with an inverter separate.

Since then I moved on to a larger battery with an attached inverter (didn't fit well in a can)...

I have seen others make power supplies with plugs and output ports with batteries and inverters enclosed in ammo cans though (likely cheaper than buying a yeti).

Enjoy!

Latest score for me. Not as cool as the power setups above, but still perfect for my uses. Finally got one of the big 20mm cans. It holds all thencrap on the floor in the pic and more. And it's literally full flush to the top. This is the gearbox in my jeep and replaced a dufflebag I couldn't dig through very easily. I have to get another pic, but it has my air tank stuck on top with magnets too.

Currently working on redesigning to make them fit into a Medium AMAL can; with a Large AMAL can for other storage.
