Go to Ikea and buy a twin size foam mattress, 7 inches thick, 200 bucks, and you will sleep much better. Foam toppers simply are not designed to properly support you body. I had one shipped to me in Afghanistan and it made sleeping in a metal shipping container a real joy, honestly.

Woah 7 inches!? I didn't even know they made those lol I'll have to look into that. I never even thought of Ikea.

Toppers work for me but I also weight like 130lbs and it already takes up a good amount of space. Can't imaging rolling up a 7 inch one. Maybe a single 3-4" topper cut in half would be easier to handle and store.

Do you roll yours up? How well does it condense to a smaller size?

So I have an official date for when I leave for my trip! June 9th will be the start of it all and then its just smooth sailing from then on out. I have no direction or set plans other than heading in the general direction of Canada. The first destination will be somewhere in Big Pine where I'll meet up with a buddy of mine for the weekend but then after that I'll have to figure out my next destination which will most likely be Yosemite NP.

As for the truck I have been dialing in a few new parts that I figured would be a great addition to the trip.

For my bed I opted in for a 4" full size memory foam mattress topper. I'm guessing the 4 inches is perfect because on my last trip to Topock Arizona I slept like a baby.

For water storage I got a Road Shower 2 to keep things clean around the campsite or if I absolutely need a shower on the road.

Saving the best for last I also got an ARB awning. This awning just emanates comfortable outdoor fun. The very first time I even tested it out was in my friends driveway and within minutes of setting up one thing led to another. From grabbing a few chairs, to breaking out the camp stove and cooking up a few brats, then to setting up hammocks and grabbing a TV so we can put on the movie Zombieland all powered by the solar panels. Really goes to show how fast I'll get settled in at each campsite I visit on the trip.

Anything else you guys think I'll need on the trip? I think I'm pretty set up for a good time.

any updates on this trip?

The trip was awesome! I've been meaning to start up a trip report with all the pictures I took but its a lot to cram in over 3 months. But now that I'm back I've been starting up the build again. Just installed a new 3rd member with an Eaton Limited Slip and 4.56 gears. Cant wait to test it out in the dirt!

So instead of wrapping the entire trip into a report I figured that I would just post up some pictures and let them speak for itself.

First stop Yosemite!

Hung out in Humboldt for a few days then I hit Redwoods and Oregon.

Then after Oregon I spent quite some time in Washington exploring the coast through Olympic National park. Then I made my way into Vancouver, BC. Unfortunately I lost all of my pictures spanning from this time until I got into Montana :( But that just means I get to go back and do it all over again.

I'll post more trip pictures later but for now I have some build updates!

Going from stock leafs and shocks on blown 5100's to this is night and day. To fill in another puzzle piece I have Fox rears in the mail and should be coming in tomorrow.

I may be a little biased, but I'd say we have the best outdoors here

Washington is jam packed with everything! My cousin might be moving up there so I'll be making a few trips up there if they do. I totally skipped over Mt Rainier on my roadtrip and I really want to go back and check it out.
